I HATE resource-gathering, crafting, base-building games. Somehow Subnautica has all of these elements and I absolutely love it.

Blighttown sucks.

Good game, wanted to play it for a really long time, but I don't find it very scary. Compared to Alien Isolation it's pretty tame on the horror front. There are tons of save points and with Stasis and good shot placement you can neutralize most things fairly easily if you don't panic. Still, it's a fun, creepy, spacey, monster-killing adventure.

Got Gold Relic on Stormy Ascent. I'm officially done with this entire franchise. ♥♥♥♥ all of you.

One of the best games I've ever played. Atmospheric as hell, the sound, lighting, music, everything comes together perfectly to create an intense, claustrophobic, harrowing experience. I spent months on my first playthrough because I was too scared to come out from under my desk (in the game). I normally don't like survival horror, only have 6 hours on RE2 and I feel like that's enough, but something about A:I is different. It's got a learning curve like the Matterhorn, but once you get the hang of it it's just plain fun.

Only three criticisms I would entertain:

1. It's a bit overlong. The last missions feel like a maddog slog to the end.

2. The Alien is a bit too predictable at times. I'm downloading Unpredictable Alien Mod to fix this, but it doesn't become obvious until after your first few playthroughs.

3. Maybe not a criticism, but the difficulty scales tremendously. I've played Medium, Hard and Novice in that order and they honestly feel like different games. I enjoyed Hard the most (hehe). Would like to try Nightmare after a playthrough on Hard with Unpredictable mod.

Advice:

1. Move confidently. That doesn't mean run or even walk, but when you get an opening move quickly to your next hiding spot closer to your next objective. The Alien never goes away, but he does turn his back, go into the vents, and search different areas. Wait for your opportunity and make your move.

2. Utility is overrated, but it will save you in the right moment. In 90% of situations, you don't need to use utility. It comes in handy in a few tight spots but that's about it--like when all of sudden TWO Aliens show up at the same time. Noisemaker for the win.

3. Always check the Rewire boxes. You can turn off lights, cameras, air purification systems and make noise and save utility for emergencies.

tl;dr, it's a good game, you should try it.

Ugh, just buy Rust.

Definitely gives me those good old times feels, very relaxing, chill soundtrack, so easy my girlfriend can play too.

Can't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ believe I paid full price when it just went on sale. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Still worth it.
