I love this game and wholeheartedly recommend it. The gameplay is simple and mostly intuitive, but has enough variety and moving parts to keep you guessing and keep things fun.

This game has a bit of a rough learning curve, with already convoluted cases being complicated by the presence of a traitor working against you. That being said, once you start to get a feel for what interactions are helpful in what situations, the traitor adds another level of depth and intrigue to this fantastic game - did my trusted lieutenant Vonne really fail to spot anything in the boiler room, or is she actively working against me? Is the silent and mysterious Rowan being outplayed in a game of cat and mouse, or is she *trying* to get me caught? Just what is her motivation, anyway?

The writing, though, is where the game truly shines. It is, at times, witty and fun, tense and unnerving, gentle and sensual. The balance between solving the mysteries of the school and reaching out to your allies without ever truly knowing who you can trust is amazing. It perfectly evokes the feeling of being young and in love in a big, uncertain world.

In the end, how you handle those pressures really does matter. If you close yourself off or become hostile to try to force answers out of people, or even just to try to keep things running smoothly, you may find yourself in a situation where no one is willing to help you. If you let your paranoia get to you, you can even end up hurting those close to you.

I was stunned when, playing through Rowan's path a second time, I treated her a little bit differently and ended up going down an entirely different path with her. I expected maybe a different, less happy ending tacked on, but I ended up seeing an entirely different side of her, and pushed her to change in entirely different ways. This game has a ton of depth and responds to your choices more than you may think.

I truly enjoyed this game. I can't recommend it enough. It is definitely worth giving a try. If you can stick with it through the (admittedly rough) learning curve, you'll be rewarded with an unforgettable story of intrigue and romance. You won't regret it.

this is a good game it might seem lonely at first but keep at it im sure youll find tomodachi at the bastion!
