Pretty much the one stop place for star trek fans looking for a game to enjoy their favourite space faring ships and crew. The game is rather dated, but it still plays okay at least to my standards. Money is needed in a few places here and there to make things easier like personal inventory or increasing your money limit on the player market (yeah thats a thing). They do give you freebies and events that have rewards involving premium ships and the like.

The ship combat is really fun though, you can fly around with your own loadouts and point them across multiple scenarios with or without players including a story mode that allows for co-op. Do be warned however, if your friend is a veteran and you are new, the mission will scale to their level and not yours, meaning you will be a defenceless target running around like a headless chicken. One last thing, if you grow fairly attached to your own personal ship, you can have it 3d printed and painted by a service the game provides and have it delivered to your home.

Overall i'd recommend this one if you can stomach the dated look to the game.

UPDATE: Sony backed down on the psn mandatory linking idea thankfully but i'll still keep everything i said below as a historical archive of sorts with my review. That being said, DEMOCRACY HAS PREVAILED AND WE CAN HELLDIVE ONCE MORE.

In all seriousness though, arrowhead deserves a ton of props for making an amazing game and holding true to their beliefs despite what their publisher wants. Financially their hands are tied but they pretty much agreed with the community on how bad the idea was in the first place.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I understand the developers have done their best here and this is out of their control. The issue here is the publisher being sony, who have basically shot one of the best performing games of the year in the foot by asking for pc players to sign up with a psn account. It's not too late though and they can back out.

Note that this is unacceptable for 4 main reasons.

1. Nothing was really wrong in the first place. the game has it's anticheat and most pc players are using something reliable to sign in with authentic accounts such as steam.

2. Playstation network has a history of data breaches and having sensitive customer information stolen.

3. There are people who live in countries that dot not have access to the playstation network due to their government restricting the service. This is essentially robbing people of their purchase as they mostly have played the game long past the refund period.

4. It's just plain unethical business practice. You don't just sell a game only to change the requirements to play it several months down the road. Take a look at how that worked out for meta when they forced people to use their facebook account to sign in to their accounts at the time otherwise their hardware is basically a useless brick.

Either which way, if sony doesn't learn their lesson, and more companies continue with this unethical practice, it just makes things a lot easier for the law to change and fix issues like this. Until then unfortunately, we need to vote with our playtime and wallets and hope for the best.

Normally i steer clear away from platformers because i never really do well at them. This one on the other hand drew me in with it's music for starters and kept me there with it's gameplay and visuals. Not to mention that it is what a true megaman successor should be imo.

Microtransactions and glitches aside, if you want a less toxic variant of overwatch but with solid metal mobile suits instead of sex appeal and a variety of other things then this will do the job. I've personally been very hesitant about getting back into shooters due to my time in overwatch, but i definitely feel a lot more comfortable here!

The embodiment of snorting an entire line of crack cocaine followed by bouncing off the walls and floors and not to mention PUNCHING BULLETS. If you need an adrenaline rush and want to be riding the eye of not a storm but a godamn supernova. This is the game for you!

Anticheat issues have basically become water under the bridge. This game is definitely a place to socialise and meet new people.Do note however that you might need an open mind and a thick skin due to the fact that you often then not run into the unfiltered personalities of people which can sometimes be... less than respectful.

While its rough to learn with at first, even someone like me with no artistic talent what so ever can bring ideas to life. Best of all there are plugins you can use to enhance the software to suit your needs ( depending on what they are of course).

Game is great but for a person like me who has no capability of being an engineer let alone being good at math to even be qualified. It took one headache after another to somewhat get my head around things and it would take too much time outta my life to make things efficient. The learning curve here isnt a hill, its like climbing up a cliff the height of mt Everest.

Would recommend to anyone that does engineering or wants to give themselves a headache for weeks on end.

Pros:
-gameplay is enjoyable
- music is okay
- world has a lot of depth to it
cons:
- character classes are gender locked
- story is meh and forces you to watch certain parts while also allowing you to skip others.
- community is about as toxic as how overwatch was like during its prime.
- bosses are extremely brutal for first time players (you have to read guides and watch tutorials before starting or risk learning by fighting and having people be super mad and toxic at you)
- upgrading system is rng based and costs more and more resources as you progress
- moving from one region to another can be tedious when quests ask you to go between multiple regions to complete it

Overall its okay to play and is just meh at the end of the day, just try not to take it too seriously and try to tune out toxic people.

If you love music and have a sense of rhythm while also enjoying guns. Then this is definitely the game for you. Yeah it can be brutal at times, but the live die repeat strategy can make most people go from dying all the time to zipping through every room like its nothing.
