It's very very minimalistic, the graphic design is that of the 16-bit era and the walk animation is just the sprite hopping around in little skips, and yet it offers a lot of D&Dness and depth for combat, plus the story is very eldritch-lovecraftian, which I'm biased towards. Also as a nice bonus, the ost and sound effects are straight up sega megadrive/genesis style, it serves both as a nostalgic hook and also a reminder of how F%#king old I am.

On the one hand, I have to commend the atmosphere, sound design and art of this game, to think that it can make me feel uneasy and nervous due to clunky 2D sprites, even bumping into dead enemies is unsettling.
On the other hand, the sheer amount of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane scenarios that happen when playing with friends is just pure gold, it takes the seriousness out of the equation and replaces it with bike horns and ragdolls, and I couldn't love it more.

Praise the honkmother, my children.

PROS
-> Awesome and deep intuitive gameplay. I.E: Its fun AF.
-> The soundtrack slaps, not to mention the plethora of musical references .
-> The +50 character roster is GREAT, and the newcommers, both in the base game and dlc, were never playable in either version of All stars or Eyes of Heaven so welcome additions indeed.
-> Original cast voices, with lots of mudas and oras.

CONS
-> NO ROLLBACK NETCODE
-> Not a lot of singleplayer options available, only All-star battle and that's it.
-> NO ROLLBACK NETCODE
-> There is an arcade mode, but no endings, so it's just 8 COM battles and nothing more.
-> NO ROLLBACK NETCODE
-> a bit overpriced for a rerelease.

All in all, a solid 8/10, would battle some tendencies again.
P.S: Did I mention that there's no rollback?

Arguably, a contender for best KoF of all times, even moreso than XIII. A solid roster, easy to learn yet hard to master fighting system, good netplay and the music from every single gosh-darned KoF game since '94.
Yes, all expectations were quite shattered.

The first ever mainline SRW that we've ever got officialy on the west and it is up to standards.
-Awesome series, each with their own music (with the option to add custom OST)
-Very easy to learn, and quite challenging on the harder difficulties
-non-linear mission selection in order to recruit the preferred mechs early

The only downside I can think of is that it is overpriced, especially living in a third world country, but still, we may not have paved roads and a crime rate that increases everyday but at the very least we have a very cool SRW game to counter that.

A quick list from a longtime GG fan:

PROS:
-An absolute beast of a soundtrack, molten metal poured directly into your ears.
-Rollback netcode
-Gorgeous, pristine visuals
-The most fun I've had with a 1v1 fight since forever
-An OVA as story mode

CONS:
-An OVA as story mode
-There's not a lot of single-player content for the moment
-A small (again, for the moment) amount of connectivity issues
-Its kind of hard to grind for money
-Money's only use is to fish (randomly) for avatar customization, OSTs and other gallery items

All in all, 9/10
Would smell the game again.

This game grabs the best stuff from Symphony of the Night, the soul system from the Sorrow games, the sidequests from Order of Ecclesia, adds just a pinch of waifus, and all the little references and easter eggs from other Metroidvanias that you can imagine.

Plus there's also giant cats. 11/10

just a little tabletop RPG that's very fun to play either solo or co-op, if you're into D&D it's even better.

Spoiler Free review

I'll try to describe this masterpiece while revealing as little as possible about everything in it.
Let's start with what we inevitably know, it's an RPG, it's story-driven, and it's made by Supergiant Games, simple enough, right? Well, that doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of this journey.
It's hard to explain, but I feel enthralled by this game, the attention to detail on the world, the landscapes, the music, every single character, no matter which side they are, you can't help but feel connected to them and the overarching story. To give you an idea, I've felt more connected to the characters of Pyre, (who, mind you, are only represented by a few portraits and a generic in-game sprite) to real people in this real, depressing world. Not to mention the little details, like small overworld interactions, the backstory of literally everything, changes in tone when certain stuff happens, and the way everyone talks. I encourage you to keep watch of every little detail that they added, while maybe unnecessary, makes the world feel much more alive
While not advancing the story, your time will be mostly spent on the rites, which is where you'll face your opponents, and while it's a weird combination of a genre not commonly associated with role-playing games, it works very, VERY well, with enough variation and strategies to warrant a couple of versus matches just for fun.
Now, many games nowadays tell you how choices matter and how they tailor the story, in this case, I feel they truly matter. Don't want to spoil anything, let's just say that everything you do (or don't) will affect you in one way or another, and you can hear it.
Finally, I want to talk about the music, which is, admittedly, what made me fell in love with Pyre in the first place,(I mean, its Supergiant Games, what do you expect?) it's all over the place, every character gets a leitmotif, although some in an untraditional RPG way and all of them fit perfectly to the place, personality, or situation that they accompany. Moreover, a couple of songs change according to the choices you've made or what you are doing at the moment, it's wonderful.
All in all, I can't stop recommending this enough, while I acknowledge that RPGs aren't for everyone and that it may sound (and probably is) like babbling under rose-coloured glasses, I know there are truckloads of reviews like this one, I just wanted to share my personal feelings of a simple videogame that made me feel so invested and infatuated with it.

P.S. If this is right up your alley, I'll repeat what the developers say on most forums, don't look up anything online, Pyre should be experienced firsthand, for maximum delight.

This game draws its inspiration directly from Advance Wars and it shows, every detail from units to units advantages and buildings has been meticulously crafted with love, and just different enough to be awesome in its own unique way. A staple for Turn-Based Strategy as a whole
