So before I get into my thoughts on the game, I must point out that there's a fan patch available that ports stuff from the Nintendo Switch/PS4 version of this game to PC. It's stuff that includes artwork in 16:9, some short stories and other various stuff that I would consider essential. The only reason it's not available by default on the Steam version is largely due to licensing issues + the fact that it's a different engine. However the patch works flawlessly and you should have no issues.

OK so I'm generally not a Visual novel guy myself though I've recently started getting into them. It was the incredibly high amount of positive reviews for this game that convinced me to try and I am so so glad I did. I legitimately believe that this is one of the most emotionally evocative work of fiction I've ever engaged with. I wholeheartedly, eyes closed, 100% recommend this to anyone who has even a passing interest in this sort of game/story. My only recommendation would be to be wary that the material can get dark and depressing so if you feel the need to take a break to calm down or for your mental health then that's totally fine. But I do believe that you should try to power through to the end of the story. Absolutely worth every single cent they're asking for and more.

If you're a fan of wacky games, JRPGs, turn based combat, generally fun combat, over the top plotlines or just generally loveable casts then you will ADORE this game.

Incredibly fun and frenetic combat that IMO is an evolution from the gameplay pillars of Final Fight and Streets of Rage. The gameplay quite noticeably shares roots from some fighting games like Street Fighter 3 what with it's directional parries and juggles.

The visuals are fairly nice but sometimes can be a little too much when there are too many enemies on screen. It does become a bit difficult at times to see what's even going on.

The music is quite nice and fits the entire tone of the game perfectly. A lot of replayability at offer here and really just a fantastic beat em up.

ONLY downside is the lack of online co-op but if you have great internet, you can use Parsec (look it up) as a decent alternative.
