Coming to this from the first game, Most of the elements are vastly improved with the "clunkiness" polished out. Perk system is vastly better although some of the really OP perks from the first game were rightfully but unfortunately removed. My only real gripe is the at least perceived reduction in item variety. Instead of having tens of swords or armor pieces to choose from like the first game. This one removed some and replaced it with quality tiers. With armor pieces having multiple color variants. I would appreciate a bit more variety in their appearance though.

The combat is a bit simplified and much less rage inducing in terms of what things happening outside of your control. Feints was a mechanic that never worked in the first game but is fairly balanced here. Master strikes have been very much fixed and made more skill centered than pure reaction time based. One thing I must say is if you stick to one weapon type only, and therefore level it up to level 25+ the game gets waaay too easy towards the end. I don't see that as a problem since if you want the challenge to still be there just pick up a different weapon type. And if you use multiple weapon types throughout the playthrough you shouldn't run into the combat getting trivial in the first place. Although I would still like Eric (the defacto last "Boss" you come across) to be more challenging than he was.

But oh my the main story. This is the part of the game where the 10/10 ratings come from. The writing is one of the best I've seen in the many RPGs I've played. The game made me both laugh loudly and shed a tear. The story is always exciting and makes you want to get to the next part. Mainly towards the end when you assemble your band of merry men. The humor and comedic moments are right up my alley and don't undermine the more heavy and dramatic parts full of suspense.

badly optimised years after realease. The story feels like it took one step forward and two steps back from the first game. And the mechanic of 'Find treasure now, come back to this place hours later when the story gives you la key' ruins the exploration.

story - 4/10
gameplay - 5/10
atmosphere - 10/10

Hogwarts digital tour simulator

I waited for the full release and so far my expectations are fulfilled, DOSII with slightly adapted 5e mechanics is the rpg perfection I expected. The story is cool too.

edit: if they would have gotten Hideo Kojima to direct an 8hr ending cutscene this game would be great, the 100% game. Because its missing an epilogue 9.5/10

Waaaayy too much grind.

Addictive as hell. Haven't had this much fun since Terraria.
