It's obvious that this game is meant to be a joke, but if you're going to make a joke game, at least make it semi-decent. There's not really much to do in the first level apart from run around, drive a few cars, avoid a few cats, pick up some vapes (of which I found a total of 7), and fly a helicopter around. The city itself isn't too bad but that's all the praise I can give.

The second level isn't much better. It is literally a track in a desert with 3 cars to drive. Your character model doesn't even appear in the cars when you get into them.

I also found that when you exit the helicopter, Shift and Ctrl still control the throttle and the cars are pretty difficult to control.

If you're going to build a joke, at least build it well.

As much as I want to, I cannot recommend this game. I've played through Just Cause 2 mulitple times and enjoyed each moment of it, but this? This has been a horrendous mess. Before I go on, I should point out that i'm using an i7-6700k, 16GB of RAM, and a GTX 1080, displaying onto a 1080p screen (I really should go to 4k). Not even this could handle the s***storm that is Just Cause 3.

I hadn't even started playing the game when I encountered my first problem. The game would crash on boot in fullscreen mode. A little bit of tweaking meant I could boot it in borderless windowed mode. After getting to the main screen I set everything at ultra and selected play, to which I was instantly greeted with 25 FPS constantly. I rebooted the game multiple times, turned down all of the settings, made sure I was on the latest video drivers, and even rebooted the system, yet nothing worked. A fresh install did nothing and i decided to call it a night.

12 or so hours later, I decided to try again. Oddly enough, it decided to run at 60fps with everything on ultra. Happy with the outcome, I went through the intro again and began playing. 1 mission in and the game was already experiencing bugs. After the helicopter that was supposed to pick me up didn't arrive (which I actually found rather funny), the game decided to crash. I brushed this off and tried again, yet it crashed after an hour or so of gameplay. I gave up.

Later that day, determined to play a game that looked so beautiful and so much fun, I tried once again to keep the game running. I opened all of my monitoring software up to make sure I wasn't running out of resources and began playing. Of course, it didn't crash for about 5 hours. When it did, none of the software was showing any problems with the computer, so it must've been the game.

I continued to play for a few days or so, and each time it would crash after 4-5 hours of gameplay, which while it is annoying if you spend long periods of time gaming like me, wasn't as bad as the game running at 25 FPS. Several of the challenges I attempted within the game had a couple of bugs here and there, which was a pain to get around, especially within the crash bomb challenges as the bomb explosion is tiny and does very little damage for an explosion so big. It was only after the game crashed in the middle of a mission for the third time that i decided it was time to write this review.

I will admit, there are some parts of the game I did enjoy. The wingsuit mechanic is very well done and while difficult at first, once mastered, does become a very useful tool for getting around the place. The upgrade system works well and the leaderboards feature is a great way of competing with friends and adds an extra challenge to the game to complete in your free time if you wish. The vehicle models and mechanics (well, maybe apart from the bike mechanics) were very well done and made me want to actually drive around instead of wingsuiting everywhere. Additionally, the character models and the scenery in general is beautifully done and really captured the mediterranean atmosphere.

If you can look past the problems with the game and really enjoyed the previous one, pick it up, although wait for it to be on sale just in case you do have problems with it, as spending £10 on a broken game is better than spending £40 on a broken game. The problems I had will not be there for everyone and if you do pick this up, you may have no problems with it at all, but due to my experience with it, I cannot recommend purchasing this game.

I will eventually complete this game and attempt to 100% it, but for now, I think I'm going to give it a break.

*24/12 Update*

A few months ago the game began working for me and I experienced 1 crash in the 60 hours I played. If I recall correctly, I am currently at 98% and it seems as if it is going to stay like that because I cannot boot the game at all. As soon as I boot I get a black screen and the game crashes. After all the problems, I genuinely did enjoy the game, but because of the flaws I must keep this as not recommended. I have not encountered any problems like these in any other game and to be honest, it has ruined what could have been a great game.

Wasn't much of a fan of Assassins Creed in the past and had only played Brotherhood and Revelations (which I didn't finish) but I decided to pick this game up when it was on sale for cheap. Ran at 60fps constantly at 1080p and every setting on the highest possible with an I7-6700k at 4.7GHz and a GTX 690 (SLI seems to work pretty well).

I've really enjoyed playing the singleplayer and while the trailing missions were annoying (they always are) other parts such as the ship gameplay and the edgy banter had between Edward and the other characters was great, especially Stede Bonnet. The characters were memorable and really helped make the game realistic. The only thing I didn't really enjoy was the diving aspect of the game due to getting attack by every damn creature that lives down there but it's not an important part of the game so it can be avoided.

I found very few bugs and glitches during gameplay and nothing that impacted the game negatively causing me to have to restart a mission. The game looks beautiful and plays beautifully as well (I was using an Xbox 360 controller for my playthrough).

Would recommend if you want to blow up some ships and stab some spaniards.

A rather enjoyable puzzle game that boasts a simple UI and many levels. Although it looks and feels like it should be a mobile game, it works well on a PC. Would recommend.
