15 hours in with a lot of the same ♥♥♥♥ to go, this game is an immense letdown. Looking deeply into the game, disregarding the fantastic world design and art, you can see that almost every single system has multiple critical issues with them.
The disgusting looting system, with the tons of useless loot that fills ur bags only to benefit the utterly useless crafting system bogs down your gameplay and just clutters up the screen whether you like it or not. Picked up only 9 ashtrays, hey here is another one for you.
The stealth system with a whole skill tree for it has no place in combat or in any quests. All quests seem to always require a full frontal assault. There is no real diversity in how a player can change the way they play, no matter how you build your character, no matter what useless skill tree you choose with the marginal numerical improvements that they give you, it always boils down to a gunfight. Need I mention the buggy AI, no ADS toggle, netrunner enemies that you can't LOS, worthless cybernetics, no cover system at all and the very horrible weapon mods?
Moving on we come to the general world interactions, where we have an absolute sham of a police/law system. The cops disappearing left and right, crowd AI issues with scared NPC's three blocks down from where you accidentally put ur car on a sidewalk, police quests where the cops attack you for some reason, not a single place in the world to park your car, no item ownership/theft system, and you cannot even customize your player at all...
Finally, to top it all off, we have the useless life paths and one of the stupidest dialogue systems ever designed/written. Pick a nomad? Climb this tower then watch a montage, hey you are in night city. Corpo? Heres a mission from your boss, now you got betrayed, montage again and back on track. All of them are just 30 minute prologues with a montage, that was clearly done to skip an unfinished sequence of quests and then cut from the main game, with all of them being boiled down to absolutely useless dialogue options later on. All paths are basically the same linear story with no actual effect on the game.
Oh and did I mention a braindance system, with fully functional braindance stores in the game, that you can't actually play at all other than forced scenes in the story?
If I appear mad, it's because I am heavily disappointed. This game has so much potential and beneath it all lies a great game but it is obvious that it was released prematurely with half done systems everywhere in the game. I really hope they pull a No Mans Sky... Until then, play Deux Ex: HR and do yourself a favor by playing a proper Cyberpunk game.
