While the game is visually appealing, the controls are wonky and slippery. No buffer jumps, the walljumps automatically knock you the opposite direction with no ability to recover your jumps, and very limited control. A good revamp of this would turn the game on its head.

Bean Battles is quite frankly the greatest video game anyone has ever made. In fact, it's so good that it brought me to tears – yes, actual tears – because no other game has managed to capture my heart like this one. From the moment I picked up the controller and joined the battlefield as a charming, gun-toting bean, I knew I was in for something special.

I have received this game as a gift, but I have bought 10 other people this game because they needed to see the greatness that lies beneath Bean Battles.

The gameplay is deceptively simple but unbelievably fun. You’re a bean, and your mission is to survive in an arena of other beans armed to the teeth with an arsenal of weapons. The chaotic, fast-paced action is perfectly balanced by moments of strategic brilliance. One second, you’re laughing at the absurdity of being a bean running around with a riot shield, and the next, you’re calculating every move to outsmart your opponents.

But the true beauty of Bean Battles lies in its unpredictability. Every match feels fresh, thanks to the game's mix of randomness and skill. You never know if you’ll win with a well-placed grenade or lose because you accidentally launched yourself into the abyss with a rocket. It keeps you on the edge of your seat in a way no other game can.

It’s not just the gameplay that shines – it’s the sheer joy and absurdity that the game embodies. The graphics are simple but charming, the sound design is oddly satisfying, and the community? Pure gold. Every match feels like a mix of competitive gaming and a ridiculous meme come to life. It's the kind of game that leaves you saying, “Just one more round,” until you realize it's 3 a.m.

Simply put, Bean Battles isn’t just a game – it’s an experience. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions: the joy of victory, the pain of defeat, and the laughter that comes when you realize you’ve been outplayed by a bean. Few games can say they’ve made me feel as deeply, but Bean Battles did just that. It’s a masterpiece wrapped in simplicity, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

As someone who isn't a big fan of the COD series I found this specific game to be a lot of fun, the skill based matchmaking is not that great because you could have a run of 2 good games and get paired up with people who have played for their whole lives and are extremely more skilled, and the only way you can have fun is if you're in a losing streak and stop playing the game after a week or two. I do like the mechanics of the game and it is eye opening in terms of what limits FPS games can break.
