This is not the game I purchased. Yes. Purchased. None of the reasons that made TFC and, in turn, TF2 great are still in place. Borderline unrecognizable.

Ok, so this may seem a bit premature and I'll update as I get farther along:

Out of the gate I have to say that I love the atmosphere and style that the developers chose to use for this game. For anyone who's a fan of interesting environments and story I can already tell this game won't be lacking.

Mechanically, the game seems to already offer a more exciting take on a traditional MMO playstyle. The dodge and aiming requirements are refreshing after so many "Target must be in front of you" messages. The path quests are a nice side attraction during regular/story questing. Controls are tight and mobility is definitely enjoyable.

My only and largest gripe so far is what appears to be the lackluster optimization. I'm not playing this game on any sort of powerhouse of a laptop, but for a game that's over two years old I shouldn't be forced into almost universally "low" settings to keep a framerate ~30 fps.

I'm excited to dig into this game a lot more in the coming days/weeks, I just wish I could see everything the way the developers intended.

I'm not well versed in mech shooters. I generally don't play a lot of them. I think TFC was the last real addiction I had to blowing stuff up on the internet. This is fun. The controls feel natural. The graphics are acceptable to pretty. The variation in play style possibilities is nice for something that could have been "linear". I'm not a fan of how limited you are in aesthetics without spending any money, but that's a hazard of any free-to-play.

I like this game. I'll continue to play this game.
