This game had been in my wishlist for a while before I decided to give it a go. It is totally worth the price I paid for it. A good turn-based dungeon crawler with good narration and engaging gameplay. The learning curve is pretty easy and the radiant/darkest difficulty levels are pretty forgiving even if you make a mistake and lose your whole party. The game is challenging but also very rewarding though you will need to grind. Even though you think you have this game down pat, it will kick you where it hurts and continue stomping... All in all I give this game 5 table flips out of 5.

Well this one is definitely the weakest of the three, felt pretty rushed and disjointed. The choices really don't have the "Oomph!" factor. And the post-credit scene needed to be thought of better. Then of course there were things that they didn't touch, like Rachel x Frank, how and when did that happen because clearly it did, the way the story was written, Frank had more interaction with Chloe than with Rachel. The final decision for this game was also pretty weak, unlike the first game where-in both decisions resulted in people dying. Honestly I felt it was such a cop-out ending since they wanted to push AmberPrice so much.

Overall: The game was okay, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but doesn't really live up to the original. The backtalk feature felt tacked on and too linear, I found that it made the game feel more like a Telltale game which though isn't a bad thing, it did nothing much really for the game. I get that it's hard to come up with something to replace the time rewind powers of Max but the backtalk felt lacking, If you are a hardcore LiS fan, you would probably find enough inconsistencies and continuity problems in this game to turn you off, but to a casual gamer or casual fan, this game would probably be okay. My complaints, I wish Chloe's relationship with Max was tackled more in the dialogues and not just relegated to the diary. Overall, I'd give Life is Strange: Before the Storm a 6.5/10 as a game but as a prequel, probably around 3.5 to 4/10...

P.S. Still no Steam controller support and the choices stats are broken for episode 3, I clearly played table top with Mikey at the hospital but it didn't reflect on the stats...

This episode is weaker than the first, there are good moments (especially that moment I bet a lot of players have been waiting for), then there is the bad moment, the SJW backtalk at the end of the episode which made me cringe... (I wouldn't have minded if it didn't feel forced nd tacked on.) Good thing you can skip that if you don't engage (wish I did)... Oh yeah there was another moment when Chloe fit a car battery into her pockets, though it made me chuckle more than anything, I guess Chloe has a power after all.

Definitely a good extra to watch after completing the game. You can really feel the passion and the love the developers and cast had for the game.

When ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan, ♥♥♥♥ HITS THE FAN! This episode was an emotional roller-coaster. It steamrolled through your emotions with a great build-up to the final episode along with top-notch performances from the voice actresses. From start to finish, you will experience sadness, laughter, surprise, denial, anger... Of course there are face palm moments but overall, this is one of the stronger episodes in the series.

When this game came out over 10 years ago, I was tempted to get it being a fan of the first game, but I read a review that said this game was open ended and did not give closure. I finally bought this game together with Dreamfall Chapters (just as the final episode was released) and was glad I did so. The story starts off with a new main character but revisits fan-favorite April Ryan. The game play has changed with added stealth and combat into the picture, which (personally I felt) did not really gel well with the game. The puzzles were pretty straightforward and easy unlike in the first game of the series which was disappointing. One thing though that made up for all of that was the story... And what a story it was... I am glad I bought this this game along with Dreamfall Chapters, I would have started smashing stuff in rage if I had to wait 10 years to know the conclusion to this epic tale...

I more or less just graduated from college when me and my friends pooled our money and bought this game. I got first dibs on it and just went and got myself engrossed in the world of Stark and Arcadia. From the time I started, I literally did not stop until I finished the game in one sitting and this is by no means a short game. Beautifully written with an amazing main character, this was the epitome of point and click adventures. Of course I had to buy it again years later to experience this wonderful masterpiece once again.

Note: This game's graphics may feel dated by today's standards, but the lore makes up for it big time.

Honestly my expectations for this one was pretty low, and I'm glad I was wrong (but not by much). Obviously this is SquareEnix wanting to milk the franchise but hey, I'm a fan of the first game so I let myself get milked like an udder. I did miss Ashly Burch's voice acting (and also some of the other characters), the story was okay enough to make me forget it was a different VA and keep me interested despite its flaws. But as a LIS fan, you would definitely see A LOT of plot holes and continuity problems.

A fitting end for a great story but it wil be best appreciated AFTER playing the first 2 games in the franchise, The Longest Journey and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey.

I also was able to get the SPECIAL EDITION DLC before it disappeared from the Steam Store, currently there are still items that have not yet been delivered like the Journeys Birth comics/graphic novel and the digital avatars. A little bit miffed by that but still won't let it detract from the story of Dreamfall Chapters.

On a side note, you MUST play the first two games in the franchise to fully appreciate this game. The Longest Journey and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey.

Edit:
Okay so I re-played this game after The Final Cut edition came out to see the changes. They removed a puzzle/quest in the third chapter of the game (though it's accessible in the deleted scenes section) which really should still be in the game since it moves the plot along. There are now more save slots which is a good thing for multiple playthroughs. Overall I would still recommend this game and as I mentioned in my initial review, you STILL need to play the first 2 games of the franchise The Longest Journey and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey before you start on Dreamfall Chapters.
