This is a beautiful love letter to old dungeon crawlers, but with a modern, faster take on the "crawl". I loved it, but found the increased maneuverability took away from the otherwise beautifully crafted atmosphere toward the end of the game. The characters were far and away the best surprise, and I looked forward to seeing them each and every time. I almost forgot to mention, but the soundtrack to this game was excellent. The love for the genre still shines through, and I cannot recommend this enough.

The game is short, does not have mechanical depth, and is lacking in a concrete story. In spite of this ABZU is a beautiful experience that I would recommend to anybody who needs an escape from the world. ABZU is a calm adventure through the sea, and for some it may light a spark in your heart for the fate of our oceans.
