Absolutely amazing. One nitpick I have is the lack of workshop support, but that might come with future patches, as the game is quite mod-friendly I am told. Either way, I still heavily recommend this. Beyond fantastic visuals and lovecraftian themes, there's aplenty to get into with unlockable content, which change the way you play each playthrough.

Indie horror at its finest.

- Man-at-arms, Hellion, Vestal and Highwayman
- good to go

- mfw enemies falling everywhere
- good ♥♥♥♥.
- BUT THEN.
- MAN-AT-ARMS DECIDES TO STRESS OUT AND GET A HEART ATTACK
- rest in peace
- BUT THAT LEAVES MY ALREADY BEAT UP GROUP WITHOUT A SHIELD.
- highwayman gets smacked to death by a bone guy
- rip
- ♥♥♥♥.
- group pushes onwards, two left, only few rooms left to explore.

Ashes of Ariandel

I don't often write reviews, but I thought I'd share my humble opinion and thoughts on the DLC, as it has gotten a lot of mixed reception. I'll start by saying that this is my opinion only, and if someone happens to care for it, take it with a grain of salt - my thoughts are not yours, and yours are not mine, and you may end up disagreeing with me.

Now, firstly, let's start with the basic premise. Ashes of Ariandel takes you to a Painted World, flung to it by the desire of a strange man you meet in the Cleansing Chapel bonfire of the Cathedral of the Deep. Reminiscent of the Painted World in the original Dark Souls, and having a few references to it. A simple premise, nothing too spectacular, but definitely has the Dark Souls vibe to it, no? I won't go into spoiler territory, but the story of the DLC is ..

Well. It's Dark Souls.

You see more than you hear.

Now, I'll list you all the things the DLC does include, with no strings attached. This is basically what you'll be getting with the purchase, and I'll explain a bit further on what I mean by that.

New Location: Painted World of Ariandel.
16 New Weapons and Shields.
5 New Armor Sets.
4 New Spells.
1 New Ring: Chillbite Ring.
Captain's Ashes.
Millwood Greatarrow.
New PvP exclusive map, called Hollow Arena.
2 New Bosses.

This is all taken from the Dark Souls 3 wiki. So, overall, what you are getting /is/ a new location to Dark Souls 3. Nothing more, nothing less. Not a multiple location DLC such as Bloodborne's the Old Hunters. It is a new location. That's all. It basically gives you an addition to an already fantastic game, but doesn't have /nearly/ enough content to be called a 'game of its own' by any stretch. I can't stress it enough - when buying this, expect a new location and little else.

Naturally, people are being critical for the length of the DLC, and I do share some of their displeasure with the fact that they spent a considerable amount of money. However, once more, I cannot begin to stress the fact that when buying, they knew if they looked it up that they were getting a new location for Dark Souls 3. It is as most locations in the game are, and if I had to compare it to a place within the game, the Boreal Valley would be a good one.

You'll be getting 4-6 hours, with potential to 8+ hours if you get stuck to the second/first boss, depending on which order you defeat them. Even at four hours, though, I'd honestly recommend buying it. Though it's hardly a great DLC when compared to others in the series, it isn't bad, either, and I had plenty of fun exploring the Painted World.

Furthermore, the arena addition allows you to engage in PvP right from the bonfire in a closed enviroment, and take part in brawls or team battles. I'm unsure if will get updated with new maps, and gamemodes or not. But I like it. It adds to the PvP experience and while I wouldn't say it is worth the purchase alone, I think it really helps satisfy myself as a buyer.

Both of the bosses were good fun, the new location was beautiful and intriguing to explore, the new items .. Well, I haven't much dwelled into them, but they're nothing 'spectacular' - a few new spells, a few new miracles, and some /highly/ viable weapons which seem to have gotten the playerbases interest. The enemies, too, were engaging.

If I had to give the DLC a number rating, It'd be somewhere around 8.1/10 to me, personally. Maybe 7.6, depending, again, how much you manage to get out of the DLC. But I do think it adds very well to an already must-buy game.

That'd be my lengthy review. To everyone whom read it all, I thank you! If you choose or choose not to buy it due to it, I'm happy I was able to be of use.

Shadow Warrior - Thoughts

Simply amazing. That's the short story - A truly worthy title to add into your Library. Between absolutely fantastic, hilarious, chuckle-worthy dialogue that keeps you entertained, a surprisingly engaging and interesting story, and the combat - Mm, the combat is just .. Simple, and short: fun.

The gunplay is excellent, giving you a variety of weapons: Shotgun, crossbow, revolver, so on: The main weapon of the game - the katana - performs gruesome kills on the demon hordes, and using it always makes you feel like you're in control, that every strike you do can be deadly, or not, depending always on where you place it, which strike you use .. The feeling of control is always there.

I didn't expect the story to be nothing more than a hilarious 80s B movie jokes and references, but managed to be much more than that - Truly, the story is engaging and suprisingly interesting, yet it didn't disappoint me with being hilarious from time to time: The dialogue, especially, deserves true credit for keeping me amused, and interested, after every section of fun demon slaughtering.

All in all, I've nothing more to say. Do I recommend it? Heck yes. The game is wangtastic and deserves a place in your Library, especially if you're looking for a very Arcade-ish old school FPS experience that doesn't let you down: And the best part? There's a sequel coming.
