i was extremely excited for this game as civ 6 didn't do it for me, but this is complete mess.

the game looks beautiful and draws you in with the amazing graphics, but after that falls flat. gameplay, despite having slightly more stuff in it, lacks the depth and strategic thought (at least in my 2 hours) compared to previous games. i just found myself very... bored to the point i couldn't even progress past the first age.

the UI is genuinely one of the worst UIs i've ever used in a game. at first i thought people were complaining about something dumb but it provides no visual clarity or interest to any elements. the pricing model is crazy, 4 DLC offerings on day one all for things that were in previous civ games is awful.

haven't played it since its' release, but i went back and tried it. the new matchmaking and find game features really make this game much more enjoyable.
