play me1 and me2 first and then transfer your me2 save to me3, it's essential for playing the franchise properly. me3 is fantastic but there's a few things to note about the steam release, mainly that it also requires origin to be installed (like most ea games nowadays unfortunately).

another VERY important thing is that the game might not launch. this can be fixed by going to this file %PROGRAMDATA%\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License and deleting all files in it.

a lot of people were unhappy about the ending, so you might want to download the extended cut dlc to remedy that. still, this franchise is really worth playing.

this game is really good. a bit glitchy at times, but it's updated very frequently and the devs listen to criticism and improve the game. solid 8.5/10 for me.
