Really great game, has a few things that could be tightened up, but overall really fun.

Fantasy Strike's game design is awesome and really manages to pull off the concept of a fighting game for people who don't play fighting games. I love it.

Early Access Review
Good enough to play for around 100 hours as it is. I wouldn't probably play it for more.

Each one of the currently existing gamemodes just has a small gripes that make them something wouldn't want to do forever.

Bowling is slow - yeah, real bowling is slow too, but bowling in Tower is reaaal slow. There's no reason for the score card to not be on-screen UI to avoid having to show the bowling monitors so often. The strategy is thin (the spin meter goes too fast and makes it feel weird), and the bowling alley just feels kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥, it's not very well lit and it doesn't loolk all that great. It also doesn't make much money considering how long it takes.

Laser Tag is often unbalanced, hard to find games, similar to Trivia and Bowling because everyone is busy gambling on populated servers, and the arena is too big so you run around for ages trying to find each other as soon as it gets down to 2v2 or less.

The casino seems to be the most popular area by far, but all the machines except Double or Nothing go excruciatingly slow and just destroy your soul. I wanna waste my money fast, damnit! Also, you'll basically never win any of the wheel games except the knight one which is just a slog of hoping the dragon dies soon as you pour more and more money into the machine hoping to get to the end already.

Also, people are probably botting everywhere in casinos because the bot check is easily bypassed by smart bots, AND it messes up sometimes causing real humans to have their machines stolen.. by someone who's just going to run a bot on it!

Ball Race seems to have a bad host advantage and also is one of many games where you literally do not interact with players except trying to get more bonuses than them. In minigolf this is expected, but it'd be nice if Ball Race had an 'enable collision' modifier for messing around? In mingolf too, why not?

Minigolf has... problems. Many of the maps are inconsistent and will just screw you over randomly. Getting balls stuck under moving objects, getting a ball up against a rotating circle causing it to not even allow you to put anymore (just gotta wait for the afk timer to give you extra strokes. there is no reset ball or undo stroke button at all!! christ just give us one per game or something for when it breaks). Cannons will shoot you into the ocean repeatedly. Taiko drums will bounce you out of bounds. Ramps will let you phase through them. These problems are exacerbated when connected to a host with a bad framerate and/or ping I believe.

Virus is a bit too thin, it can be fun and intense but it just feels.. lacking. Also, I hope you like shotguns and entire teams managing to stay in one spot and camp the only virus player for most of the rounds.

Typing Derby is fun but if you win early it takes forever to end and you cannot do anything until the game ends. Can't get up, walk, talk over voice, etc..

Ultimate Chimera Hunt is fun but it's not for everyone. It's also very latency-sensitive, like most games in Tower Unite.

Speaking of voice, it's awful. It's like they decided to take the worst parts of GMod voice and intentionally recreate it. Some players are ear-hurtingly loud somehow, but other players are too quiet to hear, and the voice quality is less than Speex/Discord by far, so just use discord with friends and turn the ingame voice way down. Unfortunately this means few people actually use voice ingame in public spaces and when they do it's mostly just kind of grating and hard to understand.

The best thing by far is the furniture and condo decorating. Honestly the minigames are just sort of a distraction and this is the meat of things. The character customization is also still fairly basic but has potential even in its' current state with no custom haircuts at all, and 5 sets of clothing for both models. There are a fair amount of hats, some glasses, a wristband, a watch and a tie at least, and all colors can be customized freely.

The condo decorating stuff is great, and the best part is Canvasses, which can be given URLs to display images from the internet. It's a bit of a janky process - you have to resize the model to fit the image for some reason, but it's still a neat proof of concept and people use it to great effect in their condos to personalize things in a really cool way. If you want a Death Grips poster, you can make one. If you want a standup cardboard Obama, you can make one. If you want an anime bodypillow... I implore you to stop, but you can do that.

Overall game shows a lot of potential but it does have a lot of things that make it a bit janky, unfair or unfun sometimes.

I would recommend it in its' current state, considering it's only $15, maybe less on sale. But the longer you wait, the better it will be down the line, so maybe hold off for now? Your call.
