As someone that played the game thinking on rushing it to get to play Muvluv Alternative fast, Muv-luv Extra's slice of life comedy was amusing and well done. I read all the way through and enjoyed every part of it. Unlimited is kinda weak but properly introduces you to the word of Muv-luv Alternative.

Now If you aren't a complete fan of slice of life and comedy, I still recommend you sit through the story of Muvluv Extra as it builds up for both Unlimited and Alternative once you get to play them and you will miss important details if missed. I recommend you stick to at least do the Sumika and Meiya routes if you don't feel like going through all the heroines in the game.
