Game is buggy at launch which is expected but its kinda maddening that they've hooked up battle-pass and cash shop without the gameplay even working.

Game doesn't utilize the Steam friends, you'll have to add friends through Embark's own service, which is abysmal. Not only that though you won't be able to invite said friends to party as the function doesn't seem to be working etiher. Overall a pretty bad user experience, from the gate, will be hard road ahead to redeem the player hype, but wish y'all luck nonetheless.

Will have to revisit in a years time when its actually playable to update my review. Kinda bold to announce your launch day at the game awards.

Early Access Review
Death doesn't quite die in this installment, gotta wait till we're out of Early Access. It's a decent game to pass the time but not quite ready in it's current state as it's lacking alot in content. I'd like to see alot more events & interactive story choices that affect the gameplay.

Good stuff so far though, keep at it. Will change my review once it has reached that mark.

It's been a while since a game really allowed myself to hunker down and enjoy it.

Between the aesthetically beautiful world 'Phoenotopia: Awakening' brings with it's myriad of melodic scores of tunes & music that will likely continue on with me the same way Link's ocarina has with others. The developers for this title managed to turn what seems to be simple gameplay mechanics into a web of intricate puzzle designs keeping it fun throughout my entire adventure, while managing to keep it coherent in escalating levels of difficulty, having felt both extreme levels of frustrations & accomplishment after the fact. The eccentric characters you meet along the way as well as well as those you've yet to encounter, I'm hopeful I'll be able to see a sequel to the title in this lifetime. I'd be curious to know what happened to Nana from the orphanage ;(

I found myself both fulfilled and left with a gaping void once the journey came to an end.

Hopefully once I muster up the courage like the boy wanting to seek sunken treasures in the Moonlight Ravine, I'll be back to try the Zero Trial achievement!

Thank you team at Cape Cosmic as well as Flyhigh Works for publishing, a time well spent and a metroidvania to be remembered for the ages.

Game play offers an interesting take on not just deck-building but your approach to exploration as well, definitely for those who found Slay the Spire enjoyable, it offers a bit of challenging twists with the new-game+ content but its still relatively short -kinda lacking in content in it's current state. Looking forward to future content and updates.

I feel there are some balancing that could be done but i'll hold my tongue on that since I've yet to see the final gate conditions, will update my review once I've cleared them.

Not quite fond on the idea of walling content in the form of unlockables through DLCs on launch (separate from the offered skins) but overall the game had just barely hit it's "worth it" mark in terms of price point for me.

It's everything the childhood in me has been yearning for, these past few years especially. Now to get Mother 4 and I'll die happy.

Like playing classic old school Zelda, but on Valve.
