I played through the original release of DE:HR when it came out but on a dying rig and without The Missing Link DLC. Jump ahead almost fifteen years and I grabbed the Director's Cut when it was on sale for a couple dollars and am so glad I did -- it's still an amazing ARPG, looks great in 4k, and its design and game play aesthetics made me feel much the same as I remember how i felt playing the OG Deus Ex 25 years ago. If you're looking for a satisfying challenge, go for a pacifist play through on the hardest difficulty. If you're a glutton for even more of a challenge, go for the Factory Zero achievement - I'd say about a third of my 37 hour playtime was spent working on that alone

Simply put: an incredible remake that felt true to what my memories of the original game are. Can't recommend highly enough.

I can't speak to how it was at launch but in its updated and refined current state it's a hell of an awesome game. If you love action RPGs and are still hesitant to pull the trigger on it, it's time to fire away chooms.

The jankiest of janky human models and animations aside, this is a punishing visual treat and the most fun I've had playing a video game in a long time. Graphical enhancements from SS3 tuned to perfection with the chaos play of TFE and TSE in delightfully m a s s i v e levels. Highly recommended.

Way back when this glorified tech demo was released, my rig couldn't handle it very well. When a newer, better rig came along, I... just never went back to it. Fast forward a decade and a half and I figured I'd give it a go to get it off the books - boy oh boy, but this thing is dull. As has been mentioned by many others, if you must play it, hit up that console right away (tilde key), enter "BeMyMonkey" followed by "setspeed 2" so you at least move somewhat more akin to how you did in the OG Unreal. Speaking of Unreal, that first entry remains one of my favorite games of all time. Spend your time playing it, then maybe fire up some UT99 and UT2004 for delightful bot-supported arcade FPS madness. Don't waste your time on this dud.

A most excellent re-working of HL1 that's worth every penny - kudos to Crowbar Collective for a helluva job!

Enh. Beautiful but boring. I suppose it's worth a purchase when on sale and if you don't already have a massive back catalog that you're trying to work your way through. A quick check of an online guide says I'm a little more than halfway along the SP campaign after 5 hrs and I'm ready to uninstall it. Better off replaying the original Crysis.

Enh. Some neat concepts wrapped up in a mediocre and tedious game.
