A great Metroidvania game, in the vein of Symphony of the Night. The built in randomization modes make it in many ways a superior version.

I cannot say enough good about this game.

edit: Many many more hours in, this is my favorite game I have on Steam and that is really saying something.

another edit: I continue to play this game despite hundreds of other games in my library. The Randomizer setting makes this a nearly endlessly replayable joy. The cosmetic DLCs are great and help keep the game fresh for me. My current fun challenge is to use Miri (the Magical Girl DLC) and require that I keep and upgrade the armor and communicator that changes the status bar.

Cannot recommend enough.

This game is so relaxing. I have no idea why playing a game where you take apart and rebuild cars is so good for my stress level, but here we are. I played the 2018 version like crazy during the early pandemic and bought this version recently to see if it was comparable. It is, but at this time lacks the diversity of DLC that 2018 has. This I'm sure will be rectified soon, but I'm waiting for the Ford DLC with baited breath.

Don't let my playtime fool you, I played a lot before the game came to Steam.

Do you like the idea of a robot becoming sentient and wanting to escape to the surface of its world? Do you like the idea of equipping new body parts and radically changing what it is you are? Want to die a lot learning how?

Cogmind is an awesome game, and I really recommend it.

If you like space, sci-fi, parkour and ninjas this is your game. Missions can take anywhere from five minutes to an hour depending on what you're doing, the vast majority are 30 minutes or less. Construction of objects continues after logout so you can queue things up to complete while you sleep or live your life. Changing how your character works is as simple as switching to a different Warframe, so you're never locked into a specific play style.

I personally like the quests and lore. The modern romantic interpretation of Samurai and Eastern culture is strong but it isn't cloying and adds a nice lens to view the world through. Overall I've gotten sucked into this game and am thoroughly enjoying it, which is all I really wanted.

118 hours more in and I still endorse everything I wrote here.

I am a fan of roguelikes and have been for a long time. In the late 2000s I played a lot of IVAN and the 2.0 Tales of Middle Earth. ZAngband as well. I've never finished or ascended in any of them.

That said, I've been playing Qud off and on for a few years and it may very well be my favorite entry in the genre. The game has an excellent setting, very reminiscent of Gamma World for those of you familiar with old TSR RPGs. Mechanically the game is excellent and very consistent. Mutants, animals, psychic powers and high tech devices hang together nicely. Not so balanced together to be bland but not so lumpy in distribution to make alternative play styles unworkable.

The real draw for me to this game is the impressively deep lore. The developers have written libraries of books and stories that drench the world in depth and history. If you play for more than five minutes your character becomes part of a web of reality that the game weaves and really draws you in. If you read books in the Elder Scrolls game the literary tradition of Qud is a must see.

I have had a lot of pleasant contact with the guys at Freehold and I am a fan of their other work, such as Sproggiwood. Brian Bucklew has helped me with C# and Unity as well for my personal projects which is far and beyond what anyone can expect from a professional developer. Only one other dev has ever answered that sort of question for me, and it was John Carmack. Pretty good company.

I cannot recommend this game and this development team enough!

I play this game every year or two, and have since it's release. In it's release form it was a highly incompleted but engaging game, and with the release of the Content Restoration Mod this game is finally complete and worthy of your time if you like Star Wars in any form.

A fantastic little roguelike with some persistant bonuses kept after death.

Each level grants a bonus when beaten for the first time for each of the available classes. You can go back when you unlock a new class and replay older levels to gain those bonuses again. The gameplay is tight, the colors bright, and the artwork cartoony and functional. I had no issue determining what enemy types were or how best to defeat them. I haven't beaten the game yet, but for as far as I have played, it's been an excellent game and worthy of my time.

Without belaboring the oft mentioned abandonment of this project by Double Fine, the game is not complete. The distance between it's current Alpha 6 state and the 1.0 release version that is scheduled to come out shortly is too great for anything other than a miracle to bridge. Double Fine has burned all Early Access purchasers and will receive no further priviliged consideration from me. *If* I by a DF game, it'll be during a Steam Sale or in a Humble Bundle.

Rise of the Triad is a fast paced, high energy First Person Shooter in the style of the 90's FPS boom. Triad is a remake of the original Apogee release Rise of the Triad, which released in 1994. As a teenager I played the heck out of RoTT, so I feel qualified to discuss how this game fares as a remake of the original and as a homage to the 90's FPS in general.

2013's Rise of the Triad is extremely well executed and hits its marks. The game features the older style high running speed and large jump height and range. Weapons are satisfyingly accurate and powerful. All the old favorites make their reappearance in this game, from the flame wall to the hand of god mode. Level design is the older "find the key and the switches" style rather than the more linear style modern game approaches have taken. All of the silly catchphrases uttered by the five main characters are here and are delivered with perfect over the top style. Graphically it's on par with more recent titles, and while it's no Crysis 3 I didn't find myself noticing any graphical issues.

The best recommendation I can give this game is the endless sense of familiarity I had from the moment the first mission began. I felt like I was playing RoTT again, and that feeling has not left during any of the time I've spent playing the game. If you're a fan of the mid 1990s first person shooter boom, this game is exactly what you are looking for.

Nidhogg is a two player fencing duel to the death, where each player attempts to defeat the other repeatedly as they head to the opposite side of the stage from their starting position to be eaten by the dragon at the end of the world. No, really. There's a single player mode, but it's not where the game shines. The AI is unpolished, as it occasionally goes dumb and lets you mow it down. Far better is beating a friend in person. The netcode for the game is currently (as of release day) a bit rough and confers quite a host advantage at the moment.

Don't let that deter you. Grab it now while it's 20% off and get to stabbin' your friends!
