Refunded.

Thought it would be a fun little puzzle platformer. Instead it is more like Getting Over It with pixel perfect swing jumps. Sadly it was not fun at all.

We were about 70% through when we decided to refund it. Didn't realize how close we were to the end until we looked up a YouTube video after the refund to see the rest if the game.

If you get good at this game its about 2 minutes long.

+PROS+

I guess the art style? But I didn't like it tbh.
The setting, I guess, but at the same time this annoyed me, because It felt like it went nowhere.

-CONS-

I found this game boring.
Get ready to run away constantly, but in the very exact and specific way the game wants you to.
So that means also get ready to die a million times until you figure that out the specific thing you need to do.
Over half the 'puzzles' were unintuitive. I would try the solution I thought was the answer, for it to not work, then run around for 10 minutes confused, only to try said solution again.... and suddenly it is working.
To expand on the above, there is a part with a cage, and if you grab the top side of the cage first you can't break it to cut the guys arms off. I tried to break the cage about 10 times, and accepted that it wasn't the answer, wasted about 15 minutes dodging the arms, tried again, realized I had to pull on the bottom part of the cage first.
Basically this game is ♥♥♥♥ at telling you what to do, and has control issues.

Beat it in 90 minutes and tried to run around and get more out of it but decided I couldn't be bothered. If you like cringey meme dialog it may be for you, but I can't stand that kind of thing.

Cute art and music tho.

(Playtime inflated because I opened it an hour before I streamed to set everything up.)

(I would give this game a neutral score but Steam only lets you be positive or negative.)

Pros:

+ OST + Art + Neat ideas + Story

Cons:

- The backtracking because you are lost instead of it being a choice. - No real direction on what to do at some points. - Boss fights made me motion sick. - One boss fight makes you beat it with a specific weapon. (You can find about 20 weapons, so why limit?) - Second to last boss was one of the worst experiences I have had in gaming. - Enemy time to kill is too high. - Enemies do to much damage. - Enemies don't drop enough health.

Thoughts:

I don't know if I would recommend this game or not. I think if you are a hardcore metroidvania fan, and don't mind BS like the fake wall after Ridleys fight in Super Metroid, or the fake lava in OG/Zero Mission, then you probably won't mind navigating in this game. I really loved the first 5 hours of the game, but after that I started to get frustrated with the exploration. I love backtracking in metroidvania games, but the difference here is I was backtracking because I was lost. Sure, I was getting more powerful and finding new items as I wandered around, but not knowing what my goal was making the game excruciatingly boring for me. I also feel like having so many weapon choices is a good idea on paper, but in practice impractical. Only about 4 of the 20 or so weapons I ever found were usable. Maybe if the time to kill wasn't so high it would have been more fun to pick and chose which weapon I wanted to use. That all said, this game did have one of the best sound tracks I have ever heard.
