A good update to the HD version, improved AI, still being updated and various quality-of-life improvements.

A somewhat tricky but fun first-person puzzle game, Antichamber provides some rather intuitive yet not intuitive at all challenges for the player. A cell-shaded corridor-based environment uses the most of colour effects to keep the linear (or are they?) halls interesting, using lighting tricks and others to mislead the player and hide solutions in plain sight.

After a while I began to adapt to the developer's sense of logic and pass through a few puzzles without much difficulty, only to discover that was what the game wanted you to do!

I would warn that this is one of the few games whose graphical style has actually given me a headache during a somewhat short play session, but a great little timesink for not and then. Overall not a long game but one that definately deserves being played.

Personally I never owned AoE3 growing up and coming to it later on I can say it has not aged particularly well.
Unlike the new AoE2:HD release, increasing the resolution unfortunately does not allow you to see more. Usually this is typical of competitive RTS games in order to keep the playing field even. Unfortunately how much is shown to you on screen is limited at best, especially when groups of units grow beyond the screen size, a particular issue when moving across a map with multiple unit types of varying speeds.

AoE3 sports a more to-ground camera perspective causing vision to be obscured by walls or buildings to a far greater degree than the other AoE games. Not helping this is how the buildings are absolutely massive (houses are huge!) while this might make it seem like your town is more impressive than it is, navigating your town in a pinch can be very fiddly.

Combat is unbalanced and to be fair, pretty broken. units can be queued but are all produced on the same timer. For example you can make 1 musketeer, or 5 at once in the same time. This all but removes the need to spend any resources until you need them. Most games I find end very quickly both online and against a computer.

Unlike AoE3, the only realistic way to win is through combat, immeditae and unrelenting combat, removing a large portion of what an AoE game means to me. Naval combat has however improved significantly over previous installments, sporting a wide range of galleons and some very pleasing combat animations and damage manifesting visually through holes, masts falling and other immersive effects in constrast to AoE2's all-purpose flames.

Overall I cannot recommend this game however I can see how it could appeal to those looking for a more basic RTS than is typically offered by the AoE franchise.

A faithful remake of an old favourite, I snapped up AoE2:HD straight away!

I have long considered AoE2 the best of the series and now any problems I had with the now-aged AoE2 have been put to rest with the HD reboot.

Now you can see far more on the screen than before (town center now not the only thing on the screen!) and not only that, if you have multiple monitors you can extend your vision even further (not stretched!). With 3x2 monitors you can see pretty much an entire small map at once.

Overall the game is very well balanced and promotes multiple approaches to play. The single player campaign is as fun as ever and a great introduction to the mechanics of the game.

The multiplayer/skirmishes add another level of strategy with team bonuses.

The new expansion adds some new mechanics, units and maps which again feels very balanced and trying the new civilizations definitately keeps the game fresh. Personally I love the Inca special unit, a spearman with incredible range but with a minimum range also.

Definately a game to pick up for long-time RTS fans and newcomers to the genre.
