meh, not that great. the flashing blue and teal of the game makes the game horrible. tempted to do a defensive driving course to get the free red and blue glasses to see if that helps. I really wish some effort would've been put into giving the graphics a 3d feel instead of this garbage of an attempt.

game play is slow and it's not clear that some of the enemy bombs are actually upgrades. oh well. I'm wondering if distant space 2 which I see selling for $0.99 is worth it. I guess I can try it. Thanks to steam having that 2 weeks or 2 hours whichever comes first return policy.

Don't listen to the naysayers—this is a great game. From my conversations with other players, it seems that the old-school fans were hoping for a return to the challenging difficulty of Diablo I (1996) and Diablo II (2000), where drops were fewer and less powerful, necessitating more grinding or intricate gem slot crafting. I'm not entirely sure what they mean by that, but there's definitely a nostalgia for the old days. On the other hand, those who got hooked on Diablo III (2012) miss the player shops and auction house. While you can still trade individually in Diablo IV, the developers felt that the player-driven economy in previous versions sometimes overshadowed the core enjoyment of the game itself.

That's what I've heard, anyway.

I played the original Diablo when it first launched, way back in 1996, before many of today's players were even born. I don’t recall if it was particularly hard, but I do remember that it didn’t capture my attention enough to keep me playing for long. Instead, I found myself more engaged with LPC MUDs (Multi-User Dungeons), which offered a different kind of immersion.

Okay, enough about me being older than the hills, though I just admitted it.

For me, Diablo IV is both enjoyable and relaxing. I appreciate the drop system and how straightforward it is to upgrade items. The game strikes a balance—it’s neither overly grindy nor a Monty Haul experience. If you're looking for a challenge from the start, skip the beginner's tier and dive into the veteran difficulty. And for those who crave an even greater challenge, consider purchasing one of the premium options to skip ahead a bunch of levels and start in one of the last two more insane modes.

One of the things I love about this game is how it allows for creative builds—what I like to call the "BOFURI principle" (from the anime BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense). For example, I'm playing as a Sorcerer and decided to dump all my stats into electricity. It’s a wild, highly specialized build with zero defense spells, but I love it. It makes me feel like Raiden from Mortal Kombat as I zap enemies with lightning bolts.

Playing on Linux, very enjoyable experience. The maps are gorgeous. Don't be fooled tho, even your high end Radeon or Nvidia can't handle high and ultra high mode in this game. I suspect it's not been optimized yet. And yes, I tried it in my Windows 11 system and even activated Radeon Adrenaline. Instead use fullscreen mode with a resolution lower than your best resolution, and let it upscale it for optimum experience.

Lot's to do. quests, tasks, journeys (to me they are all the same thing, but the devs made them different) to keep you busy. Easy to team up of with people. Nice building, but some zones look like skid row avenue from Los Angelos California. Consider moving your home when you find a new spot. I recommend a tin and copper zone by a nice lake. I'll move when you find me. lol.

It's not hype, it's a great game. I'm hoping it stays great. Yes, you can't craft pants till your level 10. However, for about $10.00 you can buy the battlepass and wear pants sooner. Otherwise you're running around in ya drawers!

very fun. so much fun. the fun is undeniable. but i must warn you. your level, you don't have one. it's all based on gear level. so if you can't hit anything or get damaged too quickly, upgrade your gear. oh and left ctrl key is your friend.

Also works flawlessly on Linux with Proton GE 9 and the 6.10 kernel.

Don't let the weird way of controlling the ship stop you. Keep trying and it will grow on you. This is the best way to control the ship. Also each run exposes new drops to add to your ship. All the modes have endless replay value. The artwork, sprites, backgrounds, arena, everything is very beautifully rendered.

I tried this with the keyboard and it just didn't feel even remotely natural.

I'm assuming the great reviews are those that used a joystick. thankfully i have one. I'll try again using that.

great rpg with ingame purchases that don't nag you that you don't need to purchase to play the game.

You don't need to know math or advanced trig. Just start upgrading stuff. Thru osmosis you'll develop your own science. After all it's just another idling game, not much of a clicker.

That said, once you get high enough, you might want to crack open a math or trig book so you can achieve some of the advanced things in it. Again, that's not a requirement. After all you're only competing against yourself. Ignore the leaderboard. I haven't found it, but I see people sharing stuff in the community forum, so I'm going to call that the leaderboard for now. I look at that as tho its a big "oh i didn't know i could do that".

And yes, go ahead, I would, mark this as funny review.
