Bonelab offers innovative new VR mechanics, detailed physics and satisfying gunplay, hamstrung by a lack of coherent vision. There's plenty of fun to be had, the ingredients of a great game are here, and there's something of a story buried in the experience, but it all feels haphazardly assembled.

The campaign experience is somewhere between fun and infuriating, but the non-story diversions are what's arguably at the heart of Bonelab. These also are a mixed bag- I could run tac trials and arena levels all day, but without multiplayer support, the gmod-style sandbox levels feel empty and aimless. In time, perhaps mods will change that. In the meanwhile, if you temper your expectations, Bonelab pushes the boundaries of VR gaming enough to make it worth your while.

Propagation VR is a short, well-paced experience that keeps the pressure on by introducing new enemy types throughout the duration. Weapon handling is streamlined and arcade-esque, although the game could benefit from an option for more complex controls (manually ejecting magazines, working the slide, etc). There also seems to be a minor but noticeable degree of artificial smoothing applied to motion tracking, which detracts from the overall experience. Nonetheless, this is an impressive wave shooter that's free, thrilling and doesn't outstay its welcome- definitely worth your time.

H3VR is probably the most detailed and comprehensively realised gun simulator in VR to date, with an incredibly hardworking developer that provides frequent content additions and improvements.

The only downside is that I now find almost every other VR implementation of gunplay to be lacking (Boneworks and Alyx come close)
