Pretty brain-wracking, but in the fun kinda way. Getting used to thinking three-dimensionally (can't...quite put it into other words, but you get my point) takes a while though, and the fact that the "powers" are piled onto you in one batch instead of one by one doesn't help.
Oh, and the aesthetics are pretty nice.

It's like Oregon Trail meets Fire Emblem but the very air smells of despair, doom breathes heavily down your neck along with the crushing regret of a hundred mistakes that cost scores of innocents their lives and you have no one to blame but yourself and the wailings of a myriad of weeping mothers echo in the hollow emptiness inside you.

Everyone is a cute chibi with weapons 10x bigger than themselves (later in the game though).
The story is the essence of a cliche anime. Cheerful little sis, straight-laced tsunder-ish big sis figure, secret weapons, clouded pasts...It's even got an opening and an ending before/after each mission.

I mean I don't have anything constructive to say but the gameplay is okay and the voice acting is MARVELOUS. I can't decide whether it's so bad it's good or just actually good, but holy hell even if the gameplay turns out to suck later I'm still gonna do this ♥♥♥♥ just to listen to those guys talk

it is never not time to fast

I don't know about you guys, but for me, activities became the most boring part ever since The Third. This game is 99% activities, and so far (I got 3 out of 4 Satan's Wrath levels) there's been ABSOLUTELY NO ACTUAL MISSIONS. There *is* stuff like "Recruit Homie" and "Rescue Homie", but it's just the same repetitive shootout repeated with different characters. Because of this, the characters themselves don't get much time to shine and thus feel boring (except my boy Dane, he's just as charming as he was in 2).
So, for me, this part is built on the most boring things of the franchise and lacks my favorite things (the characters, the interactions, the plot). If you didn't like activities much, like me, then skip this one. If you did like them, this game's alright.
Oh, should note that flying is pretty fun, so this game has that going for it.

Eh, it's a fun casual thingy if you're tired of Bejeweled.
