I play a lot of roguelike deckbuilders, and honestly this is one of the best of them. I want to specifically call out what a good design decision it is to get cards tied to equipment, so that you aren't getting relics for a build that has 0 cards that benefit from it. (Looking at you, STS >:( )

In a market saturated with rogue-likes and mindless repeatability (which I also love, don't get me wrong), Gravity Circuit is a equal parts breath of fresh air and nostalgic high. Carefully crafted bosses, levels, and enemy mechanics make for an experience that feels refreshing and emphasizes learning and growing personal skill. What really set it apart for me, however, is the obvious care for players and *not* punishing them.

Checkpoints are well interspersed within levels, you are not hard-blocked from backtracking in most cases, there are no instant-kill spikes, or pits, or enemies. There aren't even 'extra lives', just continual encouragement to retry until you succeed. Which isn't to say the game can't be difficult, as it definitely can be unforgiving until you develop the skills you need to succeed! But I was always confidant I COULD succeed.

The homages to Megaman are plentiful, both mechanically, level design-wise, and in story beats. While at first I missed shooting pew-pew lemons and charge attacks, the game is so expertly designed that within a few minutes of the first 'real' stage, I was over it and invested in jump'n'punch man.

If I had any request at all, it would be to let me rebind the down-attack to down-jump. My brain really struggled with swapping from jump button to attack button for some reason, but that is not at all a reflection of the game and obviously I made it through it eventually.
