the game is good for people who enjoy making their own stories. the only thing about the pets that is handed to you story-wise is where they came from and what happened to them. the thing is, you do it the first two times and now you've seen literally everything. i've encountered only three different variations to a pet's story, and they aren't even separated by cat or dog; three variations for both.
also, there are so. many. bugs. while starting with the cat shelter, the tutorial. TUTORIAL. bugged out, and i can't complete the task "take in a new cat". i've tried getting so many variations of cats, but it won't check off that damned task. the starting dog shelter was no better, i got up to the "purchase a washing room" task, but i couldn't move nor sell any buildings. i couldn't even purchase THE wash room, the entire point of the task. i tried reinstalling, starting a new game, starting a new game after reinstall; way too much for what was essentially a game-breaking bug.
now, i wouldn't be so peeved if the tutorial was optional. but it isn't. i'm not allowed to adopt kittens nor puppies unless i SOMEHOW get to the point in the tutorial. that dlc wasn't free, and i can't even ACCESS it because of a bug. if anything, a "skip tutorial" option would be nice.
in conclusion: don't get this game at its full price until game-breaking bugs are fixed (at the time of writing and posting this review, at least) OR don't get dlc until game-breaking bugs are fixed
i will delete/update this review if/when the bugs are fixed. it is a super fun game, it really is. i had a blast for the 6 hours i played, but i literally just can't go beyond 10% of the game

also, devs, this game is fun af besides the bugs. lmk if i can do anything to help with these bugs

I recommend this to people who like peaceful (or challenging) and beautiful survival games with an interesting story sprinkled in - all at your own pace.
