In my life I'm alone a lot. But what VR Chat allows is for people to meet and talk in real time with their own voices without the expense of having to leave the house, or having to worry about inappropriate behaviour too much. During lockdowns it was a real life-saver, and I plan on using it when I am in need of social interaction but don't want to go outside.
