One of the best RPGs I have ever played. The love, care, and attention that CD PROJEKT RED have put into this game really shows the more you play it.

It also has a pretty good modding community, which is always a plus.

Having the opportunity to virtually walk around inside of my favorite movie of all time is an absolute dream come true. Stepping out onto the balcony and hearing Blade Runner Blues while gazing into the city was one of the comfiest and most beautiful experiences I've had in a long time.

Mr. Quentin Lengele I want to hug you.

Early Access Review
Chill little game featuring a bunch of Forgotten Realms characters. Fun to just leave on a check every once in a while. It is SUPER grindy, but what do you expect out of a free clicker game. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have even played this if if weren't D&D related. It is nice to leave on while you're doing other things though. The formation strategy is a nice little feature.

My only real complaint is the RNG. Depending on your luck, you'll either get geared up really nicely and make steady progression, or you'll be stuck running the same stuff over and over and over until you get geared enough to make more progress in the harder missions.

This is like one of those mobile games that you download on a wim and then delete after playing 15 minutes. Good news is you might make money by getting this game on sale and getting those trading cards.

But this is really bad. Really, really bad. The control feels awful even though it's only 2 buttons and the camera in the opening scene made me dizzy and screwed with my eyes.

Get those cards and make a couple cents if you have the free time, otherwise I really can't recommend this game.

Ehhh, I just don't know about this game, it's frustrating to play.

The tutorial system wasn't as extensive or as explanatory as it should have been, pretty much just hit the basics like movement and passing and such. I jumped into Career mode first and didn't really have any idea what I was doing. The ball and the players were flying all over the place.

What really broke this game for me in the first 10 minutes was the way your players were switched. It's disorienting when you have no idea which player you're controlling on the team and where he is when you switch. In theory, the game switches to the player who is closest to the ball when you don't have it. Problem is, it does it so suddenly that it gets confusing. A lot of the times it threw me on the goalie when I thought I was on defense and all of a sudden my goal was unattended.

The game can be a real pain in the butt to play when you don't have control over the proper things. I just can't play it.

AUDIO:
Various styles ranging from heavy metal, carnival music, and spooky haunted house style stuff that fits the level that you are in. There is a lot of variety here and it's nice to have so many different songs to kill baddies to. Belial is a one-liner spewing jerk throughout the game. It's nice to hear him comment at the beginning of every level because it can be humorous and it gives him personality, but good lord he never shuts up while you're playing. I LOVE THE TASTE OF EVIL SOULS IN THE MORNING.

VISUALS:
Like the original Painkiller, Overdose offers a plethora of different environments to gib enemies in. A snowy viking village, the battlefields of the American Civil War, and a movie studio production lot to name a few. Every level is drastically different in theme from the previous one, so it offers a good incentive to keep going and see just how diverse this game can get. The enemies change every level to match the setting, so you won't really run into them multiple times except in a level near the end.

PLAYABLILITY:
This game does have a tendency to get hair-rippingly difficult at times. Mainly when they pit you against a horde of enemies that have some sort of quirk that melts your health to nothing in no time flat in a claustrophobic environment. Like the Riot level. Those flamethrower enemies are ridiculous. Aside from that little balancing issue, it is the same frantic and fast paced gameplay as the original Painkiller.

DELIVERY:
The gameplay is very similar to the Serious Sam line of games, just set to a darker tone. There is a pretty large variety of weapons to choose from; some a bit more useful than others. If you've played the original Painkiller, they're basically just reskins of those weapons. Each level offers you a challenge to complete in order to unlock Cards which can be used to grant you special powers, such as faster speed or changing how much damage you do. Overdose is the type of game that focuses more on its gameplay than its story, with maybe 4 total cutscenes in the whole game that sum up the story to that point. Easy to understand and doesn't take itself very seriously.

SUMMARY:
So the big question is: Should you play this game? My answer to you is that you should go decide if you want to play Painkiller: Black Edition first. If you play through that and need more Painkiller to satiate your appetite, then give this a whirl. it's not as balanced or polished as Black Edition is, but it is still fun to give a playthrough. If you didn't like Black Edition, than you are sure as hell not going to like this one. It is a game with flaws, but it still pulls through in the end.

Final Score: 7/10

This is an interesting little game that combines a choose-your-own-adventure type of story with RPG elements. The idea is pretty freaking cool, as well as the setting and atmosphere. However, I have a few problems with this game.

1) The RPG elements are not explained at all. The stats are self explanatory for the most part, but it still would have have been nice to know what each stat did for you specifically.

2) The class and morality system, while cool in concept, don't feel too distinguished. Outside of a few choices that offer different flavor text and some different stats, it is entirely possible to build your stats in such a way as to transform yourself into a different class completely. The classes just didn't feel too different in the end. I also didn't understand what the consequences were to being entirely good or evil.

3) I kept running into a specific bug that froze my game on multiple occasions. This only occurred when I was quickly moving through the exposition, but it made it annoying because I wanted to move through text I had already read as fast as possible and this bug prevented that. Also, it seemed some words were missing or misplaced in certain parts of the game.

The saving grace of this game was seeing all the different consequences of the actions you take. Trying to complete this game gave me a newfound determination. I would love to see this style of gameplay more refined and fleshed out. There is a good concept in here. I was gifted this and it would totally worth being free. It might be worth 5 bucks, more worth it on sale.

I am a massive Marvel fanboy. This game is a big, heaping dose of fanservice to me.

To start off, the game is 100% free and not pay2win at all. Those who wish to spend money are able to buy heroes, cosmetic costumes, and various boosts which are all available to free players as well. You're able to get around 99% of the content in this game without paying a single dime. It is much harder to unlock stuff like costumes in the game since they drop so rarely, but they are still there.

The game gets consistent and frequent updates from the developers. There are still more heroes and content on the way in the future and it's nice to see just how much this game has grown and improved from its original incarnation. If you got some buddies, this game can be an absolute blast. It's still fun to run around solo though, if you have friends who aren't into this game.

Definitely one of the best F2P games I've played in a while. If you're a Marvel fan, this game will keep you occupied for hours.

A fun little game. The campaign is very short in length, but the game is pretty replayable since you just do a series of unrelated missions. I've heard that this is a port of a tablet game and it definitely feels like one. It can be pretty fun to control your little planes and shoot down the enemy though.

Probably works better on a tablet since this type of quick, casual gameplay lends itself better to those devices, but it still works on PC.
