And like the sun will always throw shadows,
No matter where it shines,
The time with you will always leave marks,
No matter where I'm trying to be.

Like a permanent marker on a thin sheet of paper,
You left a mark, that's spreading quickly.
And even if I move on to another chapter,
The next pages are also stained.

These stains are not dirt, they aren't bad,
They've taught me what I always had.
They taught me what I never appreciated,
And as everybody always says: You miss it, when it's gone.

I can't even put my finger on it,
I do not know if I miss it,
Or if I just know that it is gone,
And if I just know that nothing like it will be again.

I've learnt to be better than myself,
And I believe if I put in my best,
All I deserve is also the best,
Cause yeah, why would I settle for less?
