An elaborate expensive sham to get you to buy Vic 2. I was all aboard the hype train during development but got stuck with this bag of rotten potatoes like an Irishman during the famine. I am convinced anyone at Paradox who knew anything about making games either died or left a long time ago because nothing in this game works. It is just endless menus and tool tips that tell you pretty much nothing about how or why things are happening, but hey, at least they look kinda nice? The military has been overhauled with 10x the menus yet it is still an absolute gamble which way it will go. The diplomacy in this game is insane. You get stuck without any help no matter what your relations are yet the AI can literally join/influence any region or war it feels like regardless of "diplomatic Interests." Wanna subjugate Venezuela as Brazil? Nah Russia aint gonna allow it. Feel like existing as a small south-east asian country? France or Britain is about to come down on you like the world trade center and there is not a damn thing you can do about it. I really really have tried to enjoy this game. I have lied to myself to try to justify buying this game. But they did do one thing right, convince me to buy Vic 2. Well played Paradox.

No game has ever made me scream, laugh and cry at the same time quite the same way this gem does. In the day and age of loot boxes, subscriptions, paid dlc on top of paid dlc, this game stands out as a beacon of what video games truly are supposed to be; FUN. I have never been a horror game fan but this game is different than cheap jump scares and creepy music. This is a game of strategy, teamwork and iron willpower at a price that everyone on steam should own or at least try once. "Bracken hugs" c:

At first I thought this game would be a great little train game for me and a few other fellow railfans to enjoy, but sadly It seems to just be an asset flip of the previous title from the developer. I got this for $20 and felt that while it wasn't worth that at the time it would bloom into a decent game down the road. I feel extremely worried about the entire dev team leaving, the discord getting shut down over developer drama, little to no news over time, and most of all over the price increase from 20 to 35 usd. I didnt think this rather janky glitchy buggy game was worth 20 from the start and now I flinch at even thinking of paying 35 dollars for it. As others have stated, the locos are all the same speed with little to no need to play with regulator or reverser to fine tune their performance. And while they have very recently added a few new locomotives into the game at the time of this review, I feel this is just another way to lure people in without adding in any polish or real meat to the game. I noticed areas where there seemed to be artifacts of previous rail lines only to be told that this is the exact same map from the dev's previous train game. I don't see me ever getting my $20 out of this game and I could never recommend anyone wasting $35 of their money either, unless you love mindlessly loading cargo onto cars

Everything just "feels" right. From braking a heavy train down a hill to rounding corners at dangerous speeds, everything seems to mesh with the sight of the train and various sounds of eminent derailment. Don't even get me started on how awesome the steam loco is. Giant map with many various industries and cities to haul to on straight track and spaghetti track depending on your mood. A small team of devs that are always working on the game yet are very friendly and encourage discussion and conversation on the game's discord server. The game is not a AAA release but the models of the engines, cars, even the locomotion of the steam loco are done excellently. The enviroment is a little lackluster at the moment yet some of the views from bridges or mountain sides are simply stunning. As always there are bugs in the game; there are hiccups with the derailing physics for some rolling stock; you can fall under the map sometimes, but the game is still in early access as of this review and none of those bugs will "derail" your enjoyment for long.

If you want to spend the rest of your life or money trying to unlock things, sure go ahead and waste your time/money with this mediocre, unbalanced, clunky, and laggy abomination.

(update) Yup still garbage
