Tangle Tower is the third game in what could be called the "Grimoire" series, with the first being a Flash game freely available online and the second being Detective Grimoire here on Steam. All three games feature Phoenix Wright-esque point n' click gameplay, just without the court scenes. You'll travel around a crime scene, solve puzzles, find clues, and interrogate suspects, often returning to present Clues to them to get additional information. Though unlike Phoenix Wright, there's no way to lose or be forced to start over.

Despite being the third game in the series, there are barely any connections between the three games. Other than a reference to "Richard Remington", the murder victim in the second game, you could easily play Tangle Tower and assume it's the first in the series. This does make the title accessible to new players, but it is a little disappointing if you're a fan of the series and were hoping to see some progression in the narrative presented at the end of Detective Grimoire.

The game is a murder mystery, but the player is never called on to be a detective themselves. Although you can generally visit rooms and talk to suspects in whatever order you want, the game is ultimately linear and focused on puzzles rather than any sort of deductive reasoning. These puzzles are challenging and almost always come when your character attempts to open one of the many locked containers tucked away in the different suspect's areas. Unlike most puzzles in games, the Player must press a button with a 'Keyhole' shape on it in the top right corner of the screen to submit their answer, meaning you're unlikely to accidentally stumble onto the answer. With each incorrect submission, the Player is given a hint from the character Sally, but an answer is never directly given to you and there is no way to skip the puzzles.

When playing Tangle Tower, the main draw isn't the puzzles or any other gameplay element. Not necessarily the story either. You're here for the atmosphere. The art draws you in, the music and voicework is superb, the characters are great, and it all comes together for a pleasing and entertaining 7-8 hour experience.

An enjoyable, free-to-play Yu-Gi-Oh! experience that can be played on PC or smartphone. The game is notably different than other Yu-Gi-Oh! video games in that it has a special ruleset for quicker, anime-like 'duels', as well as focusing on mechanics from the TCG's early days. For instance, there are Ritual and Fusion monsters, but currently no Synchro or XYZ monsters. However, despite these changes from the modern game, Yu-Gi-Oh! is still as fun and interestingly complex as ever.

For those who have played earlier games featuring the TCG, it has everything you'd expect a Yu-Gi-Oh! game to have: Duel Puzzles, Deck Customization, Structure Decks, voice-acting during duels, animation for certain cards (Blue-Eyes White Dragon, etc.), and so on.
