Was really looking forward to this given all the hype, but I was just really underwhelmed and disappointed. I had really high hopes given how much I love metroidvanias and exploration games.

The controls feel incredibly stiff, sluggish, and finicky. It just doesn't feel fun to traverse the world which is a massive part of any metroidvania, let alone one built around nearly pixel perfect jump puzzles.

Ended up refunding it.

This might just be my 2024 GOTY. Beautiful, funny, heartwarming story. Huge and varied world to explore. Cute and charming characters. Engaging combat and boss fights. Great soundtrack. If you like Metroidvanias, Zelda, and exploration it's definitely worth checking out.

Half-Life: Alyx set a new bar for what a high quality VR game can be. I can't wait to see more VR games of this calibre.

There is nothing quite like the first time you encounter a life-sized head crab jumping at you, it's just incredible.

The game has a great mix of horror and fantastic gun play. The manual reloading and physically hiding behind objects really brings Combine firefights to life.

The story is also fantastic and has many memorable moments. This is something that's been lacking in VR titles so far.

This game oozes theme, fun, and there's a TON to do. Probably my favorite game of the year!
