Played the base game after release and just finished the DLC recently (a great alternative conclusion to the story btw). I had great time and don't regret a minute spent playing this game.

I just finished the game after ~170 hours and it's been a blast. Even though one of the patches made the game crash every 20-30 minutes for a week or so I can waive at it since the amount of positive feelings I have towards this game outshines it. It was the first time I played a single player game for more than 80-100 hours (let alone 170+) and didn't feel like I wanna just finally rush towards the end and have it checked as completed on my list. I enjoyed every side quest or little secret I stumbled upon on my way.

To start off, I want to highlight that I'm a fan of DL1 and have been waiting impatiently for the sequel. The game, however, was a huge let down for me. I played as a client in co-op session and felt that cooperation was a last minute feature added shortly before release. Just to name a few, the most popular bugs I've experienced:
- numerous replication issues,
- missing 3rd person animations, interactions that work only for host (I was blocked twice just in the final mission because door only opened for host or I was spawned in a closed area after a cinematic),
- loot that disappears from chests shortly after opening them,
- annoying interactions that require client to be no more than 0.5m from the host for every freaking dialogue throughout the game,
- missing fast travel points (for either host or me).
It's like the designers didn't give it a thought at all (or haven't played co-op games in general). Host was even receiving better gear from the chests (e.g. me receiving a blue/purple weapon with 80dmg and host getting a legendary with 95+ damage). Throughout the game all my weapons were 20-30% weaker than host's even though we played together the entire time.
The fact that progression is not saved for client also bothers me a lot. True that the same principle was valid for DL1 but that was 7 years earlier. Techland could have made some progress in this field and at least save the main mission progress so I could drop out and do some SQ and other activities on my own.
The plot is mediocre and honestly worse than first installment. It failed to grasp my attention to a point that I would actually care about what's going to happen. It was easily predictable so maybe that's why I wasn't that much interested.
On the positive side, I can say that the graphics looks really good and it was a pleasure to observe the vistas and huge city from tops of buildings - artists actually did their job well so kudos to them.

All in all, it's been a long time since I've felt that much disapointed in a game and I can't really recommend this one wholeheartedly (at least not in co-op since I've heard more positive stuff from singleplayer users). I've invested slightly more than 30 hours into the game and don't feel like coming back to it again (well, I can't do any optional content anyway because I would again play with host every time, or finish the MQ again alone).

(yes, this review might be a bit salty because I had 3 progression blockers throughout 70 minutes of gameplay in final mission - it's just too much).

I'm still somewhere in the middle of the game, but without any doubts, this is the best VR game I played.

I tried to like it but there's too many better games out there to waste time on Elex.

I hesitated a lot before playing DD but maaan, 'tis is great. This is the first game that actually motivated me to start on NG+, and I might go for third playthrough too.

Very bad optimization. Setting everything to max details renders no more than 25-30 frames on RTX 2060 (1440p), even in small rooms where there is not much going on. Other games using RTX technology run better or in a similar way when set to ultra detail (and those games look waaaay better).
