I really enjoyed this game with my friends, but now that they're forcing a third-party app on a PC game for no legitimate reason, I can't in good conscience recommend this game anymore.
I may play it till they take my access away, but if they do take away my ability to play this game without a 3rd party account, I'm going to be requesting this to be refunded as this is an abhorrent policy that does nothing to enhance security like they claim. All it does is create another point where your information can be leaked and sold to other companies, especially with how many times PSN has gotten broken into and had information stolen from them.

EDIT - Sony has finally walked back on all the jank and shenanigans they caused with this game, so I can recommend this game again. Leaving the content of the previous review for posterity.

What to say about this game...
I helped support this games creation from early in development to its completion and release here on Steam. The devs have always been extremely forthcoming with information regarding the direction of development as well as showcasing much of the game as it was being created.
Now that it's out, I'm glad I did my part in helping it become a reality. The gameplay is engaging, the platforming and controls are tight and responsive, and unlike a lot of games out there, it doesn't penalize you if you're not great at that style of gameplay, allowing you to do everything in the game on the easiest difficulty if you so choose as far as I've seen.
Everything in the game is voice acted, so you don't have to read out anything in game if you don't want to, and all of it is well done to boot.
The sprite work and animations are crisp and clean and everything just feels like it fits.
Devs are also still working to add more polish to an already good game, and they're still very open about the state of things and progress on their discord and patreon platforms, so if you want to follow the continued development and updates, its easy.
All in all, if you're a fan of lewd games or platformers, this is a great addition to anyone's library. Even has a SFW mode coming soon.

Edit - They have finally repaired that which was lost. So the worlds join once more and Jolly Cooperation can again be had in the lands of Lothric. I shall leave up my previous comments due to the events prior, so that what has transpired is not forgotten.

I loved this game for a long time. Bought it when it first released and played it with my friends, having a grand time exploring the world in game and progressing along side them through it all.
No longer is that an option. I can't see my friends in game anymore. We can no longer stalk the crucifixion woods hunting invaders or exploring the haunting beauty of the Boreal Valley together... All gone because the online play has been removed from this game, leaving it a shadow if it's former glory.

I can't recommend this game in its current state, especially for the asking price of $60 USD. I may come back and change this review if they ever decide to fix what they have broken, but until such time, my opinion will stand.
Don't waste your time or money here. There are better things to waste it on, things that haven't had their soul ripped out and fed to the wolves.

Early Access Review
Edit 11/29/2021 - As an update to this - This game is still fantastic. I'm adding that I feel this game deserves to win something in the steam awards this year, as the devs have been very communicative and updates have been fairly substantial and enjoyable so far!

For an early access game, the depth of content available in Valheim is astounding. There are very few bugs from what I've found, and most of them seem to be more amusing than frustrating, such as watching a Grey Dwarf walk up a slope, get stuck, then rocket off into the sky, never to be seen again.
The progression of the game feels both natural and rewarding, with new tiers of equipment locked behind legitimately enjoyable boss encounters with just the right amount of difficulty, provided you take the time to learn the systems in place and upgrade your gear so that it's better than freshly crafted.
The storyline feels a little silly at times, but is still enjoyable and provides some context and explanation for why you come back every time you're defeated, unlike most progression survival games.
All in all, I would heartily recommend this game if you enjoy building and survival, but with an actual overarching goal in mind rather than just entirely open sandbox.

If you like having open ended puzzles to solve, factorio is one of the games for you. Once you start building and see everything you put together working in tandem to produce products, that feeling of satisfaction is something I've only found here. Highly recommended if you like building with actual goals to reach.

Sad to say I feel I wasted a lot of time on this. It had potential when I first started the game, disjointed story aside. Unfortunately, that potential disappeared after I figured out that everything you needed to do in the game was doing simple to absurd puzzles till they let you move to a new area, and some of the puzzles relying entirely on RNG to actually pass them successfully. A poor gameplay decision at best, since the RNG is as likely to kill you as the enemies you need it to kill, and if you die, the whole thing resets.

The fact that 90% of what you pick up is useless to kill anything in the game, even the normal animals, is irritating at best. Why a Steel axe can't kill a spider or wolf, I will never understand.

All in all, not a game I would recommend to anyone, even fans of puzzles or zombie games, since the controles are too floaty to function well and the game has a tendancy to spike lag every time the music loops, even on high end systems, which can result in killing you because your character suddenly jumps 2 or 3 tiles in the last direction you were holding instead of stopping.
