Read the other reviews if you want something wordy. The game is good and you should get it.

Early Access Review
The Good

Over all, this game is relaxing and fun. I can see it becoming a Terraria or Minecraft contender, and if you like those kinds of games then go ahead and pick this up! I'm impressed with the game play so far and see a rather strong direction. However...

The Bad

If you're the kind of person who won't tolerate bugs or broken game play, then pick it up but leave it in your library for a bit while the developers work on the game. Also, while multiplayer works and is fun, it suffers from some game-breaking bugs that can leave you frustrated. Finally, the content is limited at the moment. It only took a few hours for me to explore the map and defeat The Boss.

I also have to be critical of the developers with regards to one thing: multiplayer. It wouldn't bother me so much if they didn't push it in the trailer video. It's fine having an unfinished feature in an early access game, but when you market the game around that feature and then deliver it in a nearly unplayable state, that's just a bad move.

I'm with everyone who didn't get to buy Chapter 4 and is now being punished and forced to pay even more for the last two chapters. I'm not buying this game again. I even considered buying it on the Switch, but not after this.

I cannot recommend a game when a developer so thoroughly screws their early supporters.

I have played and loved Wurm Online for over three years, but always wished I could have more freedom to do what I want in the game. I always felt my creativity was limited by the need to gather resources and put more time into making it real than I could give.

Wurm Unlimited has changed that for me, and yet still offers so much more. Not only can I use a GM-level character to build anything I desire, but I can run a server and share it with my friends. The community has already created some wonderful tools that allow you to make custom maps, and the modding community is just getting started.

The game is rather easy to launch and manage for most people. Each "server" is in it's own folder, so I can easily make copies, zip up the good ones and store them for later, or switch between if I goof up too badly. There's a Linux-based dedicated server for cheap, cost-effective hosting. (Server going on a $20/mo Linux VPS)

That doesn't even touch the Adventure mode, which allows a player who has never played Wurm get a real feel for some of the aspects that even MMO players never really experience. You get to work on ascending to godhood, to gain powerful sorcery items, or do what ever! Totally up to you. It's what I'd like to call "rails-optional"

I know some folks have had a hard time running the game, but those issues seem to be more related to hardware and software set up than anything else. Windows 10 64-bit, with the latest Java installed, nVidia GTX 960, 16GB of RAM running on my old Athlon FX chip and the game and server both run flawlessly. (I even play Wurm Online AND Wurm Unlimited at the same time usually.)

If there's any downside I can think of, it's that this isn't the type of game for everyone, though Wurm Unlimited does allow you to tailor it more to your play style. There's a learning curve, but sites like http://www.wurmpedia.com are there to help get past that.

All in all, I'd buy it again (right after I re-up the subscriptions on my four accounts on Wurm Online)
