Cant play the game because servers are down for maintenence. Cant even get to the main menu because of it. Cant do offline games just have to wait for these idiots to put the server back on

This game is filled to the absolute brim with bugs and glitches, that will never be fixed. Many of the bugs in the game have been here for years without being fixed, the only patches that come through are directly related to their Virtual Currency, gameplay is not something that 2k cares about. The vast majority of people who play 2k play the Mycareer and MyPark and MyTeam modes, so franchise mode is 100% garbage. They have only slightly improved it this year, with features that should have been implemented YEARS ago. Things like 3 team trades and veterans minimum contracts, just got in the game this year and they have been next gen for 3 years, and this game has been a thing for 10+ years. That shows you how little they pay attention to the detail of the actual gameplay. Every update has a new pack of cards you can buy but rarely to never is there a non gamebreaking glitch fixed.


On top of all the bugs and glitches, which are way way too many to list, the actual gameplay of this game is extremely slow. You are not given an option to skip cutscenes, making each game much longer than it needs to be. Every single time play stops there will be some camera cut to a coach or a player reacting to whatever just happened, and it is unskippable 5+ seconds every single time. If you call a timeout theres a 10 second period where LITERALLY you are just watching the team walk to the side and it of course is unskippable. If you want to play a basketball game and not watch a movie instead, this game is not for you.

If you were to play 9 minute quarters, I estimate at least 10 minutes of real life time will be spent waiting for these UNSKIPPABLE CUTSCENES. This is not an exaggeration every single stoppage of play comes with 5-20 sec of unskippable video during a VIDEO GAME where you cannot do anything but wait.


Some of the bugs in this game are just unbelievable, that show how lazy 2k is and how they do not care about the gameplay, they only care about how much VC people buy.

Simcast, jumping into a close game at the end of the 4th? 90% of the time your bench will be in and you have no timeouts to get your starters in there, even though its a close game. No coach would put their entire bench in the game while up 3 and 2 minutes to play

There is such a extraordinary amount of tiny things wrong with this game, that make the graphics useless. It doesnt matter how good the game looks if it plays like absolute ♥♥♥♥

Kind of fun, but the game mode is flat out garbage. its made so that theres 4 rounds, but only the 4th round means anything whatsoever. If you cap the objective you get 1 point, but if you dont get it all the way to the end of the map, the other team gets a point, making the capped objective useless. This means only the last round matters because it will inevitably be a 3-3 game so the final cap is the sole objective in the game, everything else was just filler waste of time

NBA 2k16 has incredible graphics, gameplay is generally very smooth, and server performance is vastly improved from recent years. However, there are an insane amount of small issues that add up and these have all been here since release, that makes gameplay very frustrating.

Many features are incomplete, or just dont work. Directional passing for example, there is no way to pass to a player behind another player without manually selecting that player and allowing the defense time to react. every second counts in basketball.

VIP Stats (their online stats program) shows in depth tendencies and stats about the opponent you play at the loading screen, but there is no way to see any stats besides PPG and Win/Loss for your own profile, when they obviously have the information available to them.

Whenever a stoppage of play occurs there is a period of time where you are stuck just watching a cutscene, no matter how badly you want to skip, you cannot. This happens at literally every single stoppage of play, and for me is the most infuriating part of the game when I am trying to play a fast paced game.

Play Now Online allows players to choose their own jersey before they match up with another player, so if a player chooses a white home jersey before they match up with me, gets the Away team, and then doesnt change their jersey I will have no idea that he is using a white jersey instead of what should be a colored jersey since he is the Away team. This means both teams in game have nearly identical jerseys and the game is so frustrating to play when you have to really stare to see who is on which team in transition.

MyGM and MyLeague have a multitude of options, but lack very basic NBA rules such as the veterans minimum, and protected picks, the latter completely destroying any hopes of a MyGM or MyLeague with the Lakers without cheating and force trading their top 3 pick. You can sign Steve Nash for 725k or so but in real life he cannot be paid less than $1.49m if he were to sign a contract

At times gameplay AI seems random, for example there seems to be a 50% chance that on a transisition you pass the ball to your teammate he will either stand still and catch it or keep running and theres no way to know what will happen.

On offense the AI actually sometimes feels like it is rigged against you, with your players playing either unrealisticly or flat out refusing to obey controller commands. Example: shooters that have a wide open 3 go inside the line and when I try to get them to go behind the line (and this has happened many times for me), they literally just wont go behind the line I dont get it.

Defensive AI feels the same way. Double team is set to manual but they still decide to leave their 3pt shooter wide open to double team someone who doesnt need to be double teamed, and wasnt told to double team

2K puts no effort in updating hairstyles of players, with the majority of players having the same hair they had in summer 2015 when they got scanned, and there have been lots of changes during the season. Allen Crabbe is one example thats not even close to real life anymore

MyCareer is terrible the first season is garbage the High School and College experience comes off as annoying and tedious since none of it matters at all there is no story that changes its the same thing every time, so after youve made your first player its just annoying to go thru it all over again to get to NBA.

Cannot stress how bad MyCareer is we were told that we were going to Be The Story, and that couldnt be farther from the truth. Its Freq's Career by Spike Lee for the entire first season, you only get to play 8 rookie games!!

Every single game of Online play you will have to change your settings, they just do not save and there is no way to get them to default to something else. This functionality does not work and has not worked for years. It even changes the camera angle so if you dont get the first possession you have to play in Broadcast mode until you get the ball.

In MyGM, MyLeague, and MyCareer, your gameplay settings (length, difficulty, sliders) all have to be set every single time you make a new franchise/career no matter what the default settings are. The default settings seem to only make a difference in Play Now offline.

Getting locked in animations. Just ridiculous there are so many long animations in this game ESPECIALLY after scoring a bucket and celebrating your opponent can run the ball up court while you watch your player dancing and celebrating in the backcourt. Just terrible. Awful. My controller actions are not suggestions they are commands

If your controller gets disconnected during online play, you cannot reconnect it under any circumstances and have to restart 2k in order to be able to play it further. This will always result in a loss unless its late in the game and you have a comfortable lead and waste the clock playing with your keyboard. But idk even 1 control for that

MyCareer doesnt allow Draft classes. cant think of any reason to not include this. It also doesnt allow GM sliders so the trades and Free agency are unrealistic in MyCareer mode


Overall this is a very good basketball game, but the tiny problems make it infuritating to play

PLEASE FIX YOUR GAME

game is fun and finally has updated rosters. would be better priced at 10 bucks i think

Its fun when you get a good role but the majority of the time you will be stuck with something boring.

5 minute wait for a ranked game if you want to play a full game, otherwise in normals people will just leave if they dont get the role they want

The only NBA game for PC and it does not dissapoint. Great graphics that blow any other game I have seen out of the water. All the players look just like they do in real life as well as gameplay feels smooth and finally PC gets an updated version so it isnt $60 for a last gen product.
I feel like most people who have problems with this game are annoyed by 2k servers and not the actual gameplay and I would be willing to bet almost everyone who voted no recommendation did it in the first few weeks when the game actually was glitchy.

9/10 because 2k servers are a joke but it is not enough to detract from the game, since I dont play online anyways
