Alpha Prime is terrible.
Like, it's really bad. Really-really bad.
But I ♥♥♥♥♥♥' love it.

Why? It's like this piece of masochistic gameplay packed inside an "almost-a-shooter-game" thing that's both slow and fast at the same time. It's like they said with the "Fire Warrior" from way back when: "iT'S a HaLo kIlLeR!1!"

The graphics are generally mediocre, movement is alright, but every single weapon is a janky pile of gunk shoved inside a leaf-blower. The only good gun is the one you're gonna be using for the whole game and it's a "unique-looking" rotor-assault-rifle... Thing. Like a minigun that's a rifle.
... Oh god it's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad ...

But why do I personally like it? Well...What? You thought it's an actual review of this "game"? Damn you're one naive little grub, aincha?
I love it for it's cheesy non-emotional acting and this "♥♥♥♥ you, I hate you for basically everything, - die" attitude towards the player. Like, even the game itself doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about the things it's trying to do.
... If it's even trying at this point. (It sure as hell doesn't, believe me (should I even start with the vehicle sections???))

Consensus? What consensus? Oh yeah, that thing that I forgot to ADD IN THE REVIEW THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE CRITICAL AND CONVEY IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE GAME, HUH?!

Just pirate the damn thing and twist your nipples for straight 5 hours, cuz the game sure as hell does it itself!

About good things:
Watch Captain sayng "xenoes" instead of "xenos" and calling promethium "promethian" tickles my funny bone.
Solid game in terms of simplistic turn-based aspects, progression and all that grindy stuff that for some reason gives it this addictive edge. You might be angered at first, seeing the "open packs" tab but like after prologue you literally forget that the game has this pseudo-lootbox system.
Spess-mehrines are perfectly voiced, their banter is genuinely fun and voices fit every chapter-specific marine perfectly.
Good variety in tyranid units, even some obscure ones (probably found them under INDEX cuz, - yaknow, - they like fun). Sometimes they will surprise you with certain moves or actions, which is a good change of pace in some missions.

Some meh and bad things:
The UI is clunky, sometimes doesn't respond and is just really slow. Most interactions outside the missions really needed to have shortcuts, it's quite annoyng since most options need almost 5 to 10 seconds to proceed to the needed screen etc. When you actually play a mission - you can't check what the abilities and wargear-based abilities do, they're just there. Not as much of a problem, since most of the time you're just gonna be gunning them 'nids down like no problem.
Also - all the UI literally looks sterile. Idk how to explain it, it just is.
It's an Unreal 4 game so it looks almost like Eisenhorn: Xeno(e)s and really likes them post-processing dust particles over average lightning put around S H I N Y... well, everything.

Can't say anything about the dev team. I just hope they're alright and GW didn't just eat them like they usually do with some of the products made with their license. The game is good, just not GOOD, yaknow? But I still recommend it, you can have this as a time-waster and a fun one at that. I usually do that with DoW campaigns but this one works as well.
If you're a fan of the universe - you'll have some moments and smile one-two times. Especially if you like the 'nids, since those still haven't recieved even a single new box. (Genestealers don't count, shut...!)

Review - over.
Come on - shake a leg, get a move on.

I'm giving this game a thumb-up only for the amazing musics and battle mechanics.
I don't want to go over every single focken' bug or problem with this game, cuz it will make me even more sad, than before.

Just sayn' - not worth 60$. Buy it on discounts or weekends.
First game was short, indeed, but still - it was much better. It was a good release with no bugs or problems gameplay wise.

I like this game. Well, i liked it for some time. Not sure if its worth replayng for another time, since it makes me rage cuz of all the bugs and such.

So yeah - i recomend ya peeps to go and check the musics. Those are the best part.

A really good game, can't really say anything bad about it.
Campaign is good, as well as the lore. Never played any RTS like this before, even though i've started from Supreme Commander 2, wich made me not to take the first game too serious.
Well, i did regret that decision.

First game shows ya all the lore and what's actually happening, that's the most interesting thing about it.
And don't even question me on that one, like you don't care about some lore in an RTS game. At least this game has it and has it good.

The whole campaign will make you burn, starting from your butt, and ending at ur hands, since they will shake after ya play on some harder difficulty. This game needs strategy and tactics. I love it.
AI is the best so far, even on mid-dificulty it will make ya at least be pissed for an hour, trying to block-off any possible path to your base, or just sending units one-by-one to just make bots feel like you.
you will regret using the second tactic.

What also got me good is a focus on aircraft and navi, more than actuall terrain units. It was good to see, that the enemy is trying so hard to take you down with everything he has, while SC 2' bots don't even try to, they just do what they were scripted. At least that looks like that, since ya don't think that bots in SC 1 do anything scripted. They're just too good at the first one, and campaign levels are more complex and wide, lets you take time to explore.

What also got me good, that the Commander needs freaking 2-5 minutes to upgrade, while the second game just lets you put everything ya can, before your points run out. If they ever run out with those 125 labs, eh.

Supreme Commander series is one of the kind, so we need to apreciate the whole work that was done to make this game live. Second game wasn't bad, it just was smaller in some way and easier in campaign aspect. It is better in effects and epicness, i should say, it wins the PATHOS reward.

CYBRANS RULE!
