I play strategy (4X, turn-based strategy), simulation (construction & management, god, social), and RPGs most often, although generally speaking I'll give most anything a try.

In games where you have options on the type of character you are, I tend to play tanks - rush in, attack, and be able to soak up a ton of damage, leaving the healing and other non-direct forms of combat to other people. There is some thrill in being able to snipe someone from a distance, but most times I prefer to be right in the thick of a fight.
