I played a couple rounds and my impressions thus far. Sadly, no English localization. Thankfully, I speak Japanese so no language barrier, although there do appear to be some untranslated (Chinese) popups remaining even in the JP client. If you have no JP or CN language skills, it might be a tough sell to play.

Cosmetics are far more varied than in MajSoul and generally nicer. Characters call yaku without bond, you get music off the bat, there is a battlepass system to receive cosmetics and you generally just get more for less from what I can see.
Gameplay wise, MajHime feels a bit more polished and runs smoothly with less waiting on tiles to be drawn leading to shorter game times. Slight edge here.

The elephant in the room is population. Sadly, the beginner ranks seem very sparsely populated (although I played in the middle of the night JP time, maybe it is better during normal JP hours.) so I would assume the upper ranks are even more barren.

I would honestly say that this client seems to be my favorite of the usual bunch of Riichi clients, but suffers from MajSoul first mover bonus despite being more polished. I will keep playing on it, ideally during JP hours to see how the population is before I give up on it.

Shinku is love.

3rd time buying and reading this game, but I'll do it yet again because it's a true kamige. One of the best nakige ever written and Favorite's most definitive work, rivaled perhaps by only SakuMoyu.

There are 2 more sequels/FDs left that continue the story, so please buy! You will not regret it, I promise.

my friend saw something in front of him and jumped off the catwalk to his death
i beat a headcrab off someone else with a shovel but i killed him myself by hitting one too many times
i heard a distant scream and explosion followed by silence
i went outside to escape and a swarm of roaming bees murdered me since my friend stole their beehive at the beginning

10/10 would die again

The game sucks. It crashes or bugs out constantly and aim assist is overpowered as has become routine for crossplay "FPS" games (is it even an FPS game anymore when you aren't even doing the shooting?)

The only reason I can find to keep playing it is proximity chat with voice changer and enjoying the seethe as I demolish said aim assist potatoes. At least it does that pretty well, but I expect I'll get bored of it as soon as people move out of proximity chat once the novelty wears off.

Performance of the game was mostly okay, although I had a 3-4 random crashes in 40 hours. Not really frequent enough to be a significant annoyance, and I expect stability will improve.

The UI is not very intuitive and is missing some basic quality of life features (or the options are embedded horribly deeply in somwhere.) For example, why can't I see Empire names on their sphere of influence and easily identify their colonies. I find myself having to zoom all the way and whoops that's a mining station or independent instead! It makes it difficult to tell who I am even at war with in large 2000 star galaxies with 20 empires. Why can I not scroll through ships in a selected fleet with arrows rather than going back to the fleet menu and clicking on the next ship - I understand we have the filter screen but this is basic UI design we are talking about. 3x the clicks and even more time compared to just a single button.

The default AI settings are pretty bad - fleets will suicide themselves into enemies and you'll be left with nothing if you dont keep your eye on them early to mid game. Manual fleets also react automatically in the same system (which screwed me over when a fleet defending my main fueling station reacted into a huge crowd of space monsters and got wiped out right before an enemy invasion.) While you can minimize all this with proper policy settings, this is not at all obvious and was a great source of frustration for me early on.

Resources should matter more than they do - why is a single node I've mined since early game able to supply an empire of 100s of billions and a massive space fleet? There is basically no depth here, despite the huge amount of resources. Nodes should either have depletion, or colonies should consume large amounts for development. We are talking scifi tier planet spanning developments here - resources to build and maintain these SHOULD be an issue, or at least more of an issue than it is in this game. Imagine a world like Trantor from the Dynasty - building a massive developed world like that should require resources for all over the galaxy and they should absolutely be more than the afterthought they currently are.

The combat/ship design and research were much more engaging than nearly any other game I've played, so I had quite a bit of fun with that. I opted to just go for a scorched earth approach and loaded my battleships with planet destroying nukes and railguns and basically turned planet after planet into cinders since they kept annoying me every 10 seconds by declaring war early game. Much easier to do that here than in many games :)

Overall, a slight recommend. I had fun with it, but probably will be waiting for more content/expansions before really diving in again. The state of the game seems improved from launch, so the developer is at least continuing to work on the game.

Fun game, no rotational aim assist controller bots here. :)

No better feeling than mowing down 30 guys while sniping and holding up an entire flank and getting an artillery strike called in solely to kill you in revenge.

This is 100% pure crack, do not recommend.

I have never played a factory game before and went to play for 30 minutes thinking I'd be bored, and ended up playing 10 hours until 5am. The other reviews here do not lie.

Overrun by by braindead controller players that will randomly one clip you unless you track perfectly every single fight, which is completely impossible even as voltaic master. Even worse, you'll just get told "lol use ur arm." by delusional controller players that have no idea how ridiculously strong and overpowering modern rotational aim assist is (and I say this as someone who put thousands of hours into console FPS in the 360 era.)

Terrible matchmaking, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ servers, unplayable solo queue.

Play something else if you are a MnK and/or solo.

Edit for 2024: Still junk, still filled with soft aimbotting controllers.
