> see ally alone and surrounded, bravely fighting off three or four enemies
> "I shall help him out"
> toss throwing axe into the frenzy
> knocks ally's head off...
> problem solved

Seriously though, this game is great fun. I didn't come from the very dedicated high-skill Chivalry crowd, and it's still really fun just to take part in the absolute chaos of battle. You'll see plenty of those movie moments where you are desperately fighting off an enemy in a melee, only for him to be killed by a random arrow or one of your horsemen galloping past. More than makes up for all the other times where I struggle to land a single hit.

In my view, this is the best multiplayer FPS currently available on PC. It retains the satisfying gun mechanics and team-based approach that made the devs previous game (Day of Infamy) my most-played game last year. Sound design is particularly improved here, as has been highlighted by many others.

I recommend this to anyone who wants a semi-hardcore, team-oriented shooter that feels immersive and realistic, without the slow-pace or levels of commitment required by full-fledged milsims such as Escape from Tarkov or ARMA.

The 2D art style is simple enough but still very stylish, intelligent dialogue options and a compelling and well-written story.
On Normal difficulty at least, the combat isn't especially nuanced or complex, but still very enjoyable.
From my experience, you don't need to know anything about the Shadowrun franchise to enjoy this.
It lasts about 10 hours which is reasonable for the price. Recommended!

Imprison relatives! Plot against your benefactors! Declare anti-popes!

It's not about battles, but essentially being an unimportant noble plotting so that your grandson will be the king, and then panicing for a Plan B when he dies in a 'hunting accident'. This usually involves a series of plots, murders, and trying to obtain sufficient popularity to change succession laws.

A nice aspect is that in terms of what individual people think of your character, things actually make sense - everything that you think would influence a character's opinion, actually DOES. For instance, you may wonder why, despite your relaxing taxes and granting extra titles, Count Jeremy doesn't like you. But looking at the details, it turns out he's still bitter that you beheaded his father 20 years ago. Things like that.

It's a little harder to get into at first, and you might not have such a sense of what to do next, but this is an ideal game for imagining that you are a plotter in a world full of AI characters who also have sensible plots and ambitions.
