This game is brilliant in that it managed to game the Steam system. It gives people an overinflated sense of importance then tells them to review the game and give their “special word” in their review. Boosting their reviews artificially.

I’m gonna have trouble deciding on whether to rate this a yes or no, it’s honestly a 50/50 on if you should buy this for me. It’s a basic personality test. The questions are more interesting than your average test, but that’s what the game is under the surface. As for the horror aspects, there’s a few creepy questions. I recommend playing in a dark empty room if you want the full effect, and if you’re too scared to play then play it with a friend and that will basically completely eliminate the scare factor.

The major complaints I have are about the deception in the game and the oddness of the ending. As for the deception, I already discussed the review thing, but without getting into the specifics the game will also tell you that your results are determined through a thorough process. I’m 99% sure this is untrue because there doesn’t seem to be any variation of results based on anything but your answers to the questions as a few other reviewers have mentioned. And my word was “Blessing”, however I watched different play throughs and all of the results seem like your “basic personality test” results. Stuff that’s super generic and made to boost your ego so you are inclined to agree with it. And as for the ending, it just didn’t fit with the rest of the theme in my opinion.

Overall, I’m gonna give this game a thumbs up solely cause it’s only 2 dollars. I’d go as far as to say it should only be one dollar since it’s only about 30 minutes and there’s nothing graphical involved, but if you’re feeling down and want some motivation and a somewhat scary game then this is for you, can’t really go wrong for two bucks imo. But if you want some super unique game/social experiment to “reveal hidden truths” like the description implies, I wouldn’t count on it. Who knows though, maybe they’ll prove me wrong and the special words have a meaning and the algorithm is really detailed. However being they’ve made like 5 other games using the same exact formula I doubt it.

I'm not very far into the game quite yet, but I can tell you I 100% regret preordering it. Considering returning it to be honest.

Okay, if you really really love horror films, particularly summer camp slashers, this MIGHT be for you. If really really enjoyed Until Dawn, this MIGHT be for you. But keep in mind, even Until Dawn was never sold for above $40.

For the average person, this is a tough purchase to justify in my personal opinion. Graphics are great. They brought in some well known actors, like David Arquette from Scream, to both VA and model for the characters. However, the game was still a huge letdown in my opinion. When I initially purchased the game, I was under the impression it would be way more malleable and overall better than Until Dawn, thus justifying the heftier price tag. I remember reading a prelaunch ad that said "You could choose exactly who dies and who gets together" or something along those lines. I figured you'd not only be able to choose who lives who dies but, as they explicitly said, choose who romances who, who becomes friends with who, etc. Like an open world type game's friendship system mixed with Until Dawn.

Instead, after a long timeskip, you are essentially thrust into a world where all of the relationships are already predetermined before you even get a chance to play. They've already decided who likes who, who befriends who, etc. Obviously I'm expecting you to be able to change and alter these relationships as time goes on, but again, so far it feels like a clone of Until Dawn in a different setting and plot. They didn't add much gameplay wise to be desired. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they put a ♥♥♥♥ ton of time and resources into other aspects like graphics and getting those well known actors. But when setting the price point of a game and investing resources, you need to also keep in mind that the actual gameplay of the game has to still justify the pricetag for the player. I cannot in good faith recommend anyone purchases this game for $60. It'll probably drop fairly quickly anyways as publisher realizes no persons going to purchase a game like this for the same price of a triple A open world game with unlimited replayability.

And if you must purchase this game, definitely DO NOT buy the deluxe version. This is an error on my part, but the 80s outfit, the thing that makes the deluxe version even sort of worth buying, won't be arriving until July 8th 2022. And the horror filters are nothing special, just some grain added on top of everything or makes things black and white. Definitely not worth the extra ten bucks.

If my mind changes on this I will of course come back and change my rating. But based on other reviewers completing the game in 10 hours, I have a strong feeling my verdict will stand unless this game literally changes the whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trajectory of my life and converts me to Hinduism or some ♥♥♥♥. Not worth $60, or $50 for that matter.

CS:GO Review
Awesome game, didn't really like it when it first came out but after playing more competitive modes and thinking up strategies with friends you'll see the charm of this game.

This game was absolutely beautiful. It is true proof that a game IS in fact a piece of art. It changed my life in so many ways and convinced me to start game developing. Ken Levine will forever be my hero, and Bioshock Infinite will forever be my favorite game.
