Black Mesa may be the visually superior game but it comes nowhere close to the perfection that is Half-Life. You would think that something that had been being worked on since 2005 would surpass the original game. If we just go by just the Earth bound missions in Half-Life they are better than Black Mesa.

I have been playing the remastered edition of Crysis lately and have come to the realization that I have underestimated how good the game was gameplay wise. We all think of Crysis as the graphical powerhouse.

This is the definitive Half-Life experience, vanilla Half-Life gameplay at its finest and core Half-Life gameplay elements at their most refined.

I just recently finished recorded my playthrough of this game and i am currently uploading my playthrough of Opposing Force unto Youtube (at the time of this review).

This game was supposed to be a Sega Dreamcast exclusive but because of how underrated the Dreamcast was, it just became a PC exclusive and it worked out well.

Released 3 years after Half-Life was released and 2 years after Opposing Force was released, the GoldSrc Engine was looking a bit dated so they released a High Definition Model Pack along side Blue Shift and it was optional to install and in this release (SteamPipe Release at the time that this review was written) you can just tick a check box in your graphics section on your options menu to enable and disable it and the HD Model Pack is now available for Half-Life and Opposing Force without needing to buy Blue Shift and now they fixed the HUD Color Bug which was in the previous Steam version of this game.

Based upon the time on my playthrough videos, Half-Life is about 10 to 12 hours to playthrough.

Based upon the time on my playthrough videos, Blue Shift is about 4 to 6 hours to playthrough.

Valve and Gearbox did a excellent job making this game.

Back in the day when this game was first released, it would have not have been worth the price unless you did not have Opposing Force which was also included with the WON (Pre-Steam) Release of this game but since it is cheap on Steam then i recommend this game but i would rather recommend just buying the Half-Life 1 Anthology Pack or buying a used copy of the WON Release of Half-Life for cheap and attempt to register it on Steam by activating the CD Key and hope that it works rather than buying this game standalone.

Junction System sucks as well as the characters.

I feel the same way about this game and Final Fantasy XIII as I do about J.J. Abrams take on Star Trek, if it was called something other than Final Fantasy then i would be ok with it.

There are better ways to play DOOM 3 than BFG Edition.

If you are going to buy the DOOM 3 bundle on steam just because you want to play The Ultimate DOOM and DOOM II Hell on Earth then beware of the gameplay and graphical bugs that are in these releases and so if you just want to play The Ultimate DOOM & DOOM II: Hell on Earth, then i would suggest you buy Doom Classic Bundle on Steam rather than DOOM 3 BFG Edition. This is one of the reasons why i do not think that DOOM 3 BFG Edition was worth the money because of these issues.

The autosave function in BFG Edition sucks but the loading screens are much faster in BFG Edition than they were in The original release of DOOM 3.

I do not care at all for the fact that they give you almost infinite ammo for every single gun in the single player part of BFG Edition.

I most definitely do not care at all for the settings menu in BFG Edition (Except for Support for High Definition Video Display Resolutions even though you can get that in dhewm3 and for that reason just play DOOM 3 and just Use dhewm3) 3D Monitor + Compatible Glasses like for instance the Oculus Rift and a Framerate Cap in DOOM 3 BFG Edition is reason to play BFG Edition. Besides dhewm3 has EAX support and does not even need a Creative sound card in order to use it. You can play the DOOM 3 Redux Mod with dhewm3.

One of the only reasons why i bought BFG Edition back when it was a separate product was because I wanted DOOM II No Rest for The Living and BFG Edition The Lost Mission and the other only reason was so i could compare these releases with the original releases and by the way the Lost Mission is terrible from what I have heard from other people.

I hate the fact that they censored the Wolfenstein-Commander Keen Tribute Levels from DOOM II Hell on Earth in the version of DOOM II Hell on Earth that Is Included In BFG Edition.

At least the original game unaltered is included with BFG Edition on at least Steam. It is the convenient price of 10 US Dollars instead of the 30 I paid back when this release did not include the original game.

Because it is one of many examples of how a First Person Shooter should be made.
