NOTE: This game is no longer available for purchase, due to the existence of a remastered version. See below for the link. I've made minor updates to this to bring this more in line with my current reviewing style, but otherwise this is as far as this gets updated.

Pros
Cars feel insanely fun to drive and crash
Jam-packed licensed soundtrack
Graphics look really decent and still would run well on most systems

Cons
No Big Surf Island
Multiplayer servers are gone since 2019

Although the hours logged in Steam do not reflect it (I've had another version on another DRM that I don't want to mention, but jumped at the chance just to get it in Steam), this is simply my most favourite racing game of all time. The open-world gameplay (until you find a race, at least), the glorious races and the ol' Burnout mechanics that we know and love are all present in this delightful package. The detail is simply too gorgeous, as you watch your car slowly dismantle itself in slow-motion once it crashes into a barrier or wall.

When to buy
This is no longer available for purchase. Get Burnout Paradise Remastered instead:

For those that still own this, if you don't care about Big Surf Island or the supposed graphical improvements and multiplayer, this is still very worth a play.
