Well I did it; I passed 1,000 hours and I feel extremely confident in saying: I do not recommend this game.

"To who, me?" Yes, you and everyone else. "Don't you think it's a little ridiculous that you've invested that much time and don't feel it's deserving of my time?" Not even a little. "Fine. Explain why you don't recommend it then." I will provide a background and explanation, because everyone deserves to know.

I am an incremental game player. I have many hours in many clickers, idlers, auto-battlers, rogue-likes and -lites. My pedigree alone speaks for itself regarding my proficiency at 1) finding and exploiting the proper mechanics to expedite progress and 2) the persistence to do so, over and over, until the game is complete. Or as complete as it can be without feeling like I've wasted my time.

This game (and honestly, it's the most generous use of the term possible) has no potential for gaining advantages. You spend hours grinding campaign currency, which boosts your gold gain, which allows you to gain further campaign currency, which allows you to further boost your gold gain, until you begin completing missions. You do this, over and over, until you complete a campaign, then you unlock patrons and grind THEIR currencies, until you once again gain enough gold and campaign currency. But you will hit a wall where you've purchased all of the upgrades for your heroes. Then you have to grind more and more difficult patron missions, spending weeks and months unlocking champions which can help you further your goals and unlocking multiple parties via the Modron Core system.

Could you, maybe, potentially, speed it up by spending money? Yes, but the kicker is that you're still going to be spending hundreds of hours running these missions. They have auto-clickers in the form of pets, however you'd rather have your pets on your Modron Core group, which gains levels by clearing floors because a higher level Modron Core is more beneficial in the long run.

There is no rewarding feeling, no sense of accomplishment when you complete a mission or achieve campaign completion. There is only the knowledge that I must now move on to something more difficult, slower and with a harsher damage requirement to gain any purchase whatsoever. I will continue playing because I am a sicko. Do not become like me.

I understand that each boss has its gimmicks and part of the difficulty is not knowing how to approach new aspects, but flashing text as the boss does the move means you're supposed to read AND pay attention to what they're doing at the same time.. it just doesn't work. Perhaps some sort of foreboding disclaimer before one enters their door would work better. Back in the day it was fine to have a game like Megaman where the replayability was part of discovering the optimal boss route, but there's too many games out nowadays that this just isn't scratching the itch I was looking for. If I were more of a hardcore boss fighter, I would probably recommend it.

How to ruin your game

Step 1: Release it on Steam
Step 2: Require people to create an account on your website
Step 3: Go to bed
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Congratulations!

My "Philadephia" Dragons took on Lubbock at home. Spammed run off the right side and dominated both time of possession and score.

Was kind of hoping it was a sim like Football Manager but it's free Madden. Good if you need a fix.

Not bad but doesn't bring much new to the table

I had the original client installed on the computer I threw away before I got this one, hoping one day they'd bring this back. Still my favorite eastern MMORPG. If anyone remembers Stoic, I'll be back.

It's not much of a game at all at the moment, just watch the number go up and check your contribution vs. others actively doing so. The goals seem short-sighted, such as controlling 55% of your nation's power (sure, let me just catch up to the guy with over 24 hours playtime ahead of me, who's currently receiving a power boost for already achieving that goal.. uh..)

As it is, I cannot currently recommend it. It was fun if nothing else to sabotage Russia for awhile.

This was the first Fromsoft game I've completed. I've owned Dark Souls for many years, but the nonsense structure of the game turned me off after beating a couple of bosses. My issues with this game are similar, in that quest structure is almost non-existent, for example: talking to the blacksmith in the Roundtable and he'll mention a character I haven't seen in 40+ hours and do not recognize the name of. Even if I did, this character has moved into the Roundtable, so I would be confused if I had searched for them myself. Talk to the character and lie to her about what the blacksmith said, go back and lie to the blacksmith, then talk to each one more time. In all, that's 6 forced dialogues to unlock the ability to level summon ashes which many consider to be an integral part of the game.

There is no reason to do this. Have a monologue, have the character speak into your head as you pass letting you know that they set up shop and will work on your summons as you enter the Roundtable. There are plenty of examples of unnecessary steps in this game (Boc, getting NPCs into Stormveil Castle, trying to figure out what order Volcano Manor needs to be done to get Rya to move where she needs to be and still haven't been able to get that right.) This knocks it down a peg for me.

The other slightly understandable thing I disliked: you teach us backstab and make every major or boss enemy quick turn 180 degrees to stab us in the face. I get that every enemy in the Dark Souls series could be strafed and butt punched, but can you not at least make boss defense break easier when you attack them from the back? You have it work with shielding and the snake ball enemies on beaches, give those of us who like to play stealthy a bone.

Beating all of the God bosses including Malenia has not made me feel the masochistic joy, I do not want to tell anyone to get good if they don't like the game. It's a good game, but I won't be playing any more.

Any other old people in here? Think O'Dell Lake mixed with E.V.O.: The Search For Eden as a top-down isometric eater. The game has cool concepts, unfortunately it's mired a bit by settings that don't save and no controller support. It's a tentative recommend under the assumption that the full game will have gamepad support.

Finding it pretty fun. The amount of cut scenes in the beginning seemed somewhat excessive but as someone new to the series, it did assist to orient me with the world. If you're into the Just Cause series and enjoy more meted destruction, this is right up your alley.
