This is genuinely the best game I have ever played

I started playing the souls series with DS2 Scholar edition on my ps4 and frankly hated it, but I'm a masochistic piece of ♥♥♥♥ and decided to subsequently buy bloodborne and dark souls 3 anyways. Turned out I liked those more to the point where I had about 200 hours on DS3. Eventually I worked my way back to demons souls and dark souls on my ps3 but as you can expect the dated graphics, low framerate and practically dead multiplayer didn't help the experience much. However, I was still determined to enjoy the game, when the remaster was announced I was excited as I would finally have the opportunity to enjoy a more fluid and revitalized community in a game I was too late to the party for. And so far, I'm loving my experience with DSR. The game looks nice, it runs smoothly, and I've been able to participate in invasions and coop with basically no delay.

TL;DR: If you missed out on dark souls in its hayday for whatever reason this is the perfect opportunity to pick it up and try it out in a modern and functional way. If you've already played the game and have no interest of replaying it with updated graphics and a smoother framerate considering the mods available for the original, then don't buy it, it's not for you. There's no need to buy the game and then complain that its a cash grab when you knew completely what you were buying into, and frankly if you're this type of person, then you're not the target audience for this game. The remaster is for people like me who were too late to the franchise.

Anyways it gets a 7/10 from me. Looks good, runs well, I haven't encountered any hackers, quality of life changes are good however there are a few ones lacking such as omnidirectional rolling when locked, but its a small price to pay to get to enjoy this game with an active community.

If you weren't already depressed enough, missing a 90% point blanc shot will surely push you over the edge to suicide.

I have only played a short amount of the standalone but even from this time I can honestly say it is a huge improvement on the mod. I have clocked over 200 hours on the mod and I have exploited every bug that there was (like glitching through the ladder in fire stations.) However when I play this I see that has all been changed and that I am actually able to hit a zombie with an axe and not get killed by it in the process. Overall this was a huge success and I can't wait to see how much better they can make this.
