Payday 3 is definitely a breathe of fresh air from Payday 2. There is a continuation of certain gameplay concepts from Payday 2, but with more robust elements like stealth, but with more variation in approaches and playstyles, compared to Payday 2's stealth. These new play styles are a very welcome change to Payday 3.

However..

The negatives:
1.) Server instability: Everything is online and server based, and when the servers go down, no one can play. Currently, 3 out of the 4 days that I have been playing has been plagued with frustrating server issues. The developers have offered no explanation about the exact issues and concrete details about how they are fixing them, leaving most of the community in the dark.
2.) The armour system: In higher difficulties of Loud, it's basically a must to build armour tree. This means a lack of variation with builds. That variation of builds was something I really enjoyed with Payday 2. Also, the lacks of regeneration of the armour chunks makes Loud very tedious to play. I think the system should be where you can regenerate the armour within a chunk as long as the chunk is not broken If it is broken, then it will not regenerate anymore within the broken chunk and it will just move on to the next chunk. The lack of this system makes Loud not very enjoyable to play.

My recommendation is for people to just wait until the issues have been sorted out by the developers before buying the game. A lot of time can be wasted just by waiting for the servers to hopefully come back up, and if they don't, it takes away your option of refunding the game.

Game is extremely fun and worth it to play. It is a game where you can sit back, and relax after a long day. The game play elements might be a little confusing with non-conventional key bindings and game features, but it is worth playing and rewarding after learning the basics. The soundtrack is wonderful to listen to, and it also has a very long, but fledged out storyline that feels engaging and intriguing.

High learning curve at the start. If you want to get good at this game, requires you to invest a lot of time for it, but it's definitely worth it. Very satisfying when learned.
