Early Access Review
I wanted something new to play on my Steam Deck. I ended up going though the 400+ items in my game library and chose this, due to the art in the thumbnail. I wasn't disappointed. The premise and concept are well written and chosen. I love the character designs even though they aren't anything elaborate. The pixel art is very pretty. I have about three hours on my save file, and got to day 4 so it has a decent length. Highly recommended for people who like fictional conflicts that take place in the real world, and give perspectives beyond what the protagonist was once forced to think. My only criticism so far is that the walking is kinda funky on the Steam Deck/controllers, as well as exit not letting me quit, making me force to quit through the SteamOS menu (this is in docked mode on am external display console using the official dock).

I first played this on January 8th. It was on my laptop without a dedicated graphics card. It was laggy and unpleasant. Then I tried it on my PC with a graphics card. Still didn't run well with graphical changes. Thought it'd be playable with a controller but the lag wouldn't stop being a bother. Gave up. Today I picked up the game again. Joined the beta a few days ago. After the recent update/patch, this game is so much fun. It's smooth and graphics are tasteful! I finally finished the first chapter, and no graphical issues or lag. Much better optimized with my 10 year old PC. I like playing this game with my GMMK keyboard and Redragon mouse over an Xbox controller. The experience feels nicer without a controller, my favorite method of playing games, surprisingly. Would recommend this game, a platformer with lore.

I'm on and off with this game. However, when I do play, the game runs smoothly and has a variety of songs. I like how you just need to buy the DLC and you have access to past songs/collab characters and future ones. I find it easier to use a controller.

Very fun with friends and has its 2010's charm. Blacksmith is my favorite character! Best to get during sales where it's $3-5 so you can get a few copies for your besties.

This is a beautiful and relatable game about self-discovery and life. Florence's journey is about rediscovering passion and hobbies, and how age does not change the fact you still haven't completed the journey of finding yourself.

TL/DR: They made the flow and gameplay Automata-esque. The lore goes deep and will hit hard knowing this game takes place in our timeline. Play NieR Replican't before Automata as this game is the prequel, and ending E directly leads to Automata. The characters aren't one note; they all add to the plot rather than take away. Even side characters who seem trivial create the feeling of a dystopian future civilization. The pricing is fair as it isn't a direct port and made the graphics from the ground up, new content, and a new ending. I love Devola's and Popola's hair here, they need to update Automata with it!

Emphasis on this!!
-------------------------------------
**You need to get all 9 weapons in part 1 or they'll be inaccessible in part 2! You need all weapons before you attempt ending C!**

Lore!!
-------------------------------------
I understood Drakengard/NieR lore by watching SPBrando on YouTube and I gained a deeper appreciation of the series. It helps if you are banging your head against the wall from confusion. Books and any games with NieR collaborations are cannon lore.

Replicant before Automata!!
-------------------------------------
If possible, play this before Automata since this remaster touches on the life before robot aliens and robot wars, as well as the downfall of humanity. The storyline is immersive, and gives the player reflections on life and philosophy. Cutscenes are beautifully rendered as well as the models/graphics look fantastic. The textures are impressive.

Semi-spoilers!!
-------------------------------------
I love all the characters and how they were written! After each ending, you learn more about each character, and references to Drakengard and how NieR came to be in our universe. Emil is my favorite character by far. He suffered at the hands of Kaine's shade, Tyrann, around our current year. Tyrann helped conduct experiments on children, which was approved by the government). He turned Emil's sister into a battle machine and Emil into "medusa" to stop his sister. He doesn't know Kaine has Tyrann, or remember Tyrann's name but it isn't mentioned in the present (only in backstories when Emil's confronts his mind). Emil still protects Kaine and has a strong sense of protection for her and the protagonist (who screws up humanity--).

Pricing!!
-------------------------------------
The price is worth in my opinion. The graphics are completely revamped, new plot elements, and an ending leading Automata which can make more coherent sense for the NieR series. Fun fact-- the square root of 1.5 is 1.224744871, which is a neat touch to reflect how this game has the NieR plot from 2010 but remastered with new graphics and stories in 2021. This is no port, nor it is a whole 'nother NieR game.

This is such a humorous take on undergarments. Just arcade fighting panties and it isn't even lewd! Where's the boxers version?

Gonna give you up-- Gonna let you down-- Gonna run around and desert you--

All jokes aside, the only thing I can complain about was the option of not having the text appear all at once. Other than that, very interesting spin off from its predecessor. Having 2 interests may be overwhelming but adds another depth to each characters and you, the one with protagonist powers.

It was easier to earn hidden pfps compared to the last game.

It's easy in the first few levels but gets tricky! I took 2 weeks figuring out 2 levels but beat them! Besides that, cute game and each cat's description is great (looking at you, Loaf). It's a good game if you don't have much free time. Play in between classes as a mental break. Will get Dogs Organized Neatly!
