I am not in the habit of writing reviews for games, so bear with me.

I did not expect to enjoy this game, as nice as it looked. Roguelike mechanics never really clicked for me in other games. For me, this has been the exception. While many complain about the negative effects of not exploring for more map pieces, the game seems to be about finding a rhythm between beating enemies, building up momentum without getting bogged down by too many enemies, and sometimes taking time to open a chest or two, all the while working towards the objective of the quest. When you get a big enough group of enemies or a boss that requires your full party to beat, you start using up your charges to avoid encounters, or use up utility/daily powers/items to avoid getting beat down. It honestly does come down to finding a rhythm, and fighting to keep it, managing all the aspects of the game.

The crafting system is simple and comfortable, which helps keep you focused more on the gameplay than the crafting itself, even as it complements the difficulty. Getting your first common At Will craft makes the game move a lot faster right at the beginning, without making it a cakerun even in the simplest difficulties.

I look forward to finding out what the development team has in store for us in the future.
