The customisation options mean that every tier of ship is viable (although obviously not in every role) which is something I've just not seen from this genre. Usually bigger is always better, but I've been comfortably running around in a yacht overloaded with railguns and bigger ships have just made for easier targets.

Another positive for me was that you can directly make money from combat, which means that, unlike similar titles, you don't have to haul freight for money to get started. I've been playing as a pirate (usually a miserable experience for this genre) and thriving due to the abundance of contract hits and money earned from destroying other ships.

The only real negative for me was that a lot of equipment and weapons are gated behind tech-level which feels very artificial. To my mind, the cost/difficulty of acquiring a piece of equipment or a weapon (or the components to craft them) should be the only gating required, but maybe that's just me.

I really hope that this game receives more development, I'd love to see more interactions between factions and possibly more of a story, some more depth in general. That said, even if this game never got another update, it would definitely be worth the asking price, very easy recommend.
